Duncan's Weight Loss: 240

Post#1 » by Gutter92 » Sat Aug 15, 2009 7:09 pm

This is a recent picture, he's down to 240. How do you think it will affect his gameplay? He'll be quicker, for sure, and more agile...able to slide over on help D easier, etc.

Whats your take on it? Better @ 260, or 240?

He still won't be "quick", and he's going to get banged around by other big guys. Might make the minutes a bit easier on his body though.

I think it'll be better for wear and tear, but I think he'll have a harder time keeping guys on his hip when he's shooting in the post. We'll see.

I thought Pop told him to come in out of shape? So much for that.

better for his legs(knees ankles and feet), puts more pressure on the other bigs (dice, bonner blair and haislip) to play bigger

She looks like she's 12.

Gasol is around 240 so whatever strength advantage had against Gasol, it's gone now. I fully expect Gasol to make life tough for him whenever they play now. Plus, Bynum does a stellar job on Duncan too.

Just because he lost weight doesn't mean he lost strength...

Doesn't have to really lose strength but the help of body weight wouldn't be there. I used to box and when I'm at a lighter weight i lose some of my strength. Sure the power behind the arms is there, but you can be moved easier because of the lost body weight.

When Duncan was 240-245 a couple years back (he slimmed down) and I thought he'd have trouble, he was still able to bang bodies with Shaq, Haywood, Cato and those guys. The difference isn't only strength (between Duncan and Gasol), it's also toughness, will, and physical characteristics. Gasol is the "skinny heavy", meaning a lot of his weight could be in the mid-section (not that he's fat) because it isn't in his legs or arms, while Duncan has trunks for legs, and is a bit "chubby" in the mid-section. Someone who's into health more could explain more regarding what I'm talking about. Basically, Gasol is "heavier" (and taller!) but Duncan is stronger. Pretty simple.

He doesn't want to be a Center on the all star ballot. This is all.
