Here is the case for Kobe to be the play-off player of the decade

this the TNT thing?

I could never say that about KG. Even though he is a great player. In some way even in his prime he is Joakim Noah with a jump shot and a little better post game. Outside of that they have the exact same skill set.

I'd probably give it to Duncan, but Kobe's a close second.

Problem is Duncan has 2 Finals MVP's to Kobe's 1, add in the fact that Timmy's never lost a Finals, and I think you have to go with him.

Getting to the Finals better than NOT getting to the Finals, No?

Kobe got there 6 times this decade... Duncan only 3.

Kobes team eliminated Duncan team from the playoffs this Decade 3 times, to 1 (WHILE being the best player in those Series at that.)

I'd say Kobe over Duncan. a finals MVP doesnt mean that much to me.... Especially in the Early 00's when the BEST teams were in the west (Kings, Spurs, Blazers) and Kobe used to Run through those teams. The NBA Finals were played in the Conference Finals.

Well yeah, but it's worse to lose in a round earlier than the Finals, and Duncan lost 7 times before the Finals this decade. Bryant lost 4 times before the Finals, 6 times overall with 4 titles to Duncan's 3 (extend it out a year and it's 4 titles for TD). Of course, neither had the same teammates so the comparison is a little difficult to make.

Either way, it's pretty close. Which was predictable from day one.

How is it not Shaq? Three Finals MVPs, five Finals appearances, four rings. At least mention him.

Of course its between Kobe, Shaq and Duncan. All the top decade stuff should split between them. I would go with Kobe, then Duncan and then Shaq, because you cant penalize him for not making the playoff 2 years because thats RS....

Shaq, Duncan and Kobe are top 3 and all 3 have a legitimate case. Each have the same amount of titles, however the dominance level is different for each, but also the consistentcy level is different over the years for each as well.

Consistent: Kobe

Dominant: Shaquille

Overall: Kobe

But if you look at it from who dominated year after year in the playoffs, Kobe is the answer. Shaquille had seasons where he was more dominant than Kobe in the playoffs, but after 2000 it wasn't a huge gap and after 2004, Kobe was just flat out better than Shaquille in the Playoffs every single year.

Come on, this is a really absurd and tired argument. You can say the same for D-Wade or for Paul Pierce.

The problem is Duncan's been declining. Kobe really hasn't. The San Antonio has not been in the spotlight for sometime, and the Lakers are the IT team right now.

But really in my mind, it's a tie between Duncan and Kobe. But if Kobe wins another ring in June, he takes the spot.

It has to be Shaq then Duncan. Maybe then Iverson. Kobe doesn't have many rememberable playoff games like those 3 have. Shaq has a few 40-20 games. Duncan flirted with a quad in the finals. Iverson has exploded for 50 in the playoffs plus his game 1 vs the Lakers. Next up would be KG and Kobe.

Iverson really? It's statements like this that make Iverson so overrated. Guy never accomplished anything in the playoffs yet he's ahead of guys like Kobe, Wade and KG who actually led their teams to championships.
