The Lakers and the Cavs have flip flopped from last year

Post#1 » by espnespn » Fri Feb 12, 2010 9:25 pm

Last year the Cavs had alot of trouble against there top competition:
1-2 vs. Magic(3-6 including playoffs)(biggest threat in conference)
0-2 vs. Lakers(

The Lakers played well against there top competitiors
3-1 vs. Nuggets(biggest threat in conference)
2-0 vs. cavs(biggest competition in east)

This year the lakers are struggling against there top competition:
0-2 vs. Nuggets(biggest threat in conference)
0-2 vs. cavs(biggest threat in east)

And the cavs are roughing up the top teams:
2-0 vs. Magic(biggest threat in conference)
2-0 vs. lakers(best record in west)

The cavs were awful last year against the top teams, the lakers were great. This year the cavs are the ones beating up on the great teams, and the lakers can't seem to beat the top teams(consistently, at least)

Last year the magic/lakers exploied the cavs weaknesses(Center and length)

This year the cavs/nuggets are xploiting the lakers weaknesses(Soft up front, no depth)

Let's face another reality, Kobe is hurt and it is almost a sure thing he will not be a 100% come playoff time(finger will linger all year, ankly/shoulder could also be worse than let on)

Last year everyone was excpecting a Cavs/Lakers Finals. Cavs lost to Magic.
This year everyone is once again excpecting a Cavs/Lakers finals. I am starting to think the Nuggets are this years magic. Just my opinion.

Side note: If cavs make a deal it should be for a SG. We take advantage of the lakers frontline all to well. or christ sake we beat the lakers w/o our second best player/scorer/best shooter.

Book it: Nuggets will beat the Lakers in 6, cavs beat Magic in 5. Cavs beat Nuggets in 7.

Lakers haven't been healthy this year...that MIGHT have something to do with it. Although, it is something that laker fans need to keep an eye on.

the cav's just had a longer rest over the summer @_@

Come play off time it will be a different story... just like the Cavs swept rounds 1 and 2 just to get their asses handed to them by Orlando.

"It is almost a sure thing he will not be a 100% come playoff time".

Hell nobody is going to be 100% healthy at playoff time. And where the hell did you come up with a shoulder injury ? OK I get you now work for the Laker medical staff.

Man get outta here with this garbage thread.

I don't believe it's a forgone conclusion that either team makes it out of their conference... I know the Cavs have some hurdles-- but I fully expect Denver to give the Lakers everything they can handle..

Would indeed be interesting if the Cavs did make it out of the east only to not see the Lakers--but get the first LBJ vs Melo finals...

The funny thing is that none of the things you mentioned are weaknesses for the Lakers.

I don't see a healthy Lakers squad losing to any team in a 7 game series but I'm interested to see how Bynum plays once he returns after the all star break before declaring them the best team again.
