Those of you who wanted to trade Coaches....

Post#1 » by Guy986 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 6:41 am

Apparently you can! So your *insert incompetent coach here* for Phil Jackson scenario may not be a pipe dream after all!

Here is what Scola said on his Chinese blog. (yes... Scola has a chinese blog. Infact most Rockets do)
I spoke with our GM, Daryl Morey, about several topics, but in particular about the item I spoke about in a recent blog I wrote about the argument we had in our locker room about whether a coach could be traded…. He said they can be traded! I was completely surprised by that. I thought it was something silly that someone said that was completely unfounded, but it turns out to be true. Not only is it possible, but he gave me examples of when it has happened. One example of this which was actually pretty important was when Miami traded Stan Van Gundy to Orlando for a couple of draft picks a few years ago.

Turns out that they can also trade GM’s. The only difference between trading coaches and GM’s from trading players is that the coaches and GM’s can reject a trade if they don’t want to accept the move.

This is certainly news to me..... You can even trade GMs? Wow.

Ofcourse there is the possibility that Morey is just screwing with Scola.

Not NBA, but Jon Gruden was traded:

After compiling a 40–28 win-loss record in four seasons with the Raiders, Gruden replaced the fired Tony Dungy as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, via a high-stakes trade that included Tampa Bay's 2002 and 2003 first-round draft picks, 2002 and 2004 second-round draft picks, and $8 million in cash. The trade took place for a number of reasons, including Davis' desire for a more vertical passing attack rather than Gruden's horizontal pass attack, the fact that Gruden's contract would expire a year after the trade, and Davis' uncertainty over whether Gruden was worth as much money as his next contract was sure to pay him. Gruden signed a five-year contract with the Buccaneers worth $17.5 million.[1]

Scola's blog is 100% real. His articles routinely get 50,000+ more hits. I believe writing the blog is part of his contract with a chinese shoe company.

Make it Kiki + Dallas's pick for Adelman and Garrett Temple and you have a deal.

Sorry, I'm not Donnie Walsh.

You'll have to at least take Humphries contract.
