Where does George Karl rank among active NBA coaches?

Is he a top five coach? Top ten? A lot of people talk about the impact Chauncey Billups has on the Nuggets team but the most important person for Denver might actually be their coach. The Nuggets seemed to have fallen apart without him.

I'm not a Karl fan at all. His teams have generally underachieved in the playoffs.

Denver was still winning games and were looking good after K-Mart went down. In fact, they went on a five game winning streak after his injury.

Yeah, and they went on a winning streak without Melo too and beat Lakers..In the short run it might not look that bad, but it's a whole different story in the long run

they were also 1-4 earlier in the season without kmart, when karl was coaching. he's very important to denvers defense & overall energy. billups, melo & nene are all pretty laid back players....kmart plays an large role in firing everyone up.

will be interesting to see if everyone rallies around karl when he returns for the playoffs.
