Steve Nash- greatest offensive PG ever?

Post#1 » by Roscoe Sheed » Thu Apr 15, 2010 12:09 am

This will be what the 4th season of 50, 40, 90 for Nash. Besides the possible exception of Magic, has there ever been a better offensive PG?

There is this guy named "Tiny" Nate "The Skate" Archibald that would like to introduce himself. He's the guy that led the NBA in PPG and APG in the same season.

One on one, Payton would sit on Nash's lil ass.

Therefore I might consider agreeing with this thread.

I'm sure a lot of guys would have much better stats if they played under Pringles, Gentry and Don Nelson

I don't necessarily agree, but you could make a pretty strong case.

The NBA is 5-on-5 though, and Steve Nash is/was clearly a better offensive PG than Payton.

He is easily the best offensive PG of all time. We all know about his defense though.

Seriously, what to do with that? Is Magic excluded or not?

Anyway, Magic's #1 period. I'll put Nash as #2 of the past 40 years. If you put Oscar or West as point guard, I'd have to really think about it before putting Nash ahead of them.

Chris Duhon proves this theory correct day in and day out by posting awesome point and assists averages, and incredible shooting percentages, not to mention leading the Knicks to the playoffs and being a multiple time MVP and future HOFer.

Oh.....wait........

Anyway, I agree. Besides Magic, Nash is the greatest offensive PG in history.

I don't think you're really valuing a player's ability as a distributor.

There are 2 great offensive dynasties in the last 40 years. Magic's Lakers and Nash's Suns have produced dominant offensive efficiency teams year after year like no other teams. Hard to believe that either team would be better served by replacing the pass-first point guard with guys that looking for their own shot first while shooting at far lower efficiency.

I don't know about greatest ever, but I can say that everytime Nash shoots an open jump shot, I just assume it is going in.
