Western All Stars vs Eastern All Stars - All Time Matchup

Post#1 » by lukekarts » Tue Nov 8, 2011 3:24 pm

West Coast All Stars

Magic Johnson / Steve Nash
Kobe Bryant / Jerry West
Elgin Baylor / Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan / Karl Malone
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Shaquille O'Neal

East Coast All Stars

Oscar Robertson / Walt Frazier
Michael Jordan / Dwyane Wade
Julius Erving / Scottie Pippen
Larry Bird / Charles Barkley
Bill Russell / Moses Malone

Note: teams decided using the Top 100 Project List. Where players were debatable selections for each side, I picked based on appearances in each conference (e.g. Charles Barkley, 1073 games total, 610 in Philly = East).

Who wins?
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

The backcourts are comparable, and can be argued either way. But West destroys the East in the frontcourt.

The West's big men overtakes the East easily but the backcourt of MJ/Oscar/Wade/Dr. J are too much for the West to match. A wash

Magic/Kobe/West are no scrubs. And it's arguable they're better than the East guards.

I don't know, I like the East. Not that they are better, but they would be a fantastic team to cheer for. What an intriguing starting 5! It would be fun to watch.
