Pretty much a wash. Excellent comparison.

Bogut might've made a slightly bigger defensive impact, as visible when you look at their RAPM, but I wonder how much the weaker competition in the Eastern conference had to do with it. Sample size also isn't exactly the same, as Bogut played 11 games less than Gasol.

Bogut was a better rebounder and shotblocker, Gasol better passer, midrange shooter (Bogut took less than one shot from further than 10 feet from the basket, jumpshooting just wasn't his strength, while Gasol took over 3, converting at pretty good efficiency - almost 44% from there), and their efficiency at rim and between 3-10 feet is basically the same, plus Marc was a vastly superior free throw shooter (also attempted more FTAs per game), so I feel comofortable giving Gasol the edge as a scorer, too.

Marc gives you almost 3 extra minutes per game and 11 more games - I think I'll use it as a tiebreaker and take him, but it's very, very close.

That was the year Bogut destroyed his arm? He was a monster that year before the injury and actually had Milwaukee headed for the playoffs in a decent seed. Give me Bogut.
