Curry would be better than Westbrook regardless of the surgery. WB has never had a season as good as Steph's last season and he is playing even better this year. It's not even a discussion, really.

I kinda like Russell, but Curry is a better playmaker, and a better scorer now too.

It's funny when people say best point guard..as Westbrook isn't close to being best PG..best PG and player are totally different

Westbrook isn't a point guard. He's a scorer

His team is tied for 3rd best record in the NBA. I'd say he has a good chance at MVP this year.

I really hate when people do this. Just use their stats, don't post their per 36.

Also, Russ was the consensus better player during the offseason, when he comes back, we will see how this stands up.

That consensus was simply incorrect, it was just overrating coming off of the playoffs. Happens all the time. People also hesitate to highly rank smaller less athletic players. They'll make statements that don't really equate to actual production, like that he's just more "physically imposing" or hype up his determination/motivation etc. Additionally, the difference in athleticism causes the overrating of Westbrook's defense and the underrating of Curry's defense.

Westbrook has never had a season which compares to curry's last year.

Russ had a little better PER last year while playing better defense. And yeah, that's not debatable.

And last year was the only year that was close. Every other year Russ' PER has been several points higher, again, with better defense.

Well I guess if he had a higher PER that's the end of it and he must have had a better season
Since you like them I guess I'll use another all-in-one stat

Curry's WS/48 last season: .225

Wetbrook WS/48 last season: .178

And all of Westbrook's healthy season WS/48 respectively: .195, .163, .159, .105, .035

Curry last season: 24/8.5/4.3 on 47.1/42.4/88.5 shooting, 61.0% TS

Westbrook last season: 21.8/6.9/5.7 on 43.7/31.8/82.6 shooting, 54.5% TS

Westbrook's best healthy season (12-13): 23.2/7.4/5.2 on 43.8/32.3/80.0 shooting, 53.2% TS

Sorry but aside from being distracted by size and athleticism, I don't see how it's even possible to argue that Westbrook has ever been a better player than Curry's 2013-14 season.

Yes easily, Steph, LeBron, KD and Davis are the clear top 4 IMO.

Possibly, but I am not sure it will last. Still, my "special" players right now are Bron, Durant, Davis, Cousins, Curry, Westbrook and maybe CP3, but I've got a ? over his head right now. So Curry could easily be Top 5.

Thing is I'm pretty sure he's going to fall off in several areas, he's not going to rebound like this all year, the steals will likely fall back. He might be able to sustain the offense, but the offense alone wouldn't normally be enough for me to put him over guys who fill the other stat columns. I don't think being a quick and soft shooter makes you Top 5. But being a quick shooter who also hits the glass and digs in on defense might.

The Warriors fans here have done a good job convincing people he's not bad on defense

Or Mark Jackson did a good job convincing you he was bad. Watch some games, aye?

Steph isn't a lock down man to man guy but he's definitely not a slouch in those situations, he's able to play most point guards decently and if it's a really tough assignment, he can more than hold his own against the leftover assignment of Klay/Iguodala. He's also third in the NBA in steals per game and is a much smarter defensive player since he entered the league. He's definitely part of the defensive system and doesn't slouch like Melo/Harden.

Just because you‘re not bad doesn‘t mean you‘re good. He‘s far from the liability he‘s painted as from people who watched Mark Jackson‘s Warriors team.

Physically he‘d struggle against matchups like Russ but with such a high Basketball IQ he‘s smart with defending, whether that‘s shuffling feet, getting position, or reaching in to strip the ball. I never said he was good, but he‘s ok, and has been a lot better this season and shown it by defending good players like Lillard very well.

Do we count Durant while he's out? I'd put him, LeBron, Davis and Howard over him. Then you have to consider what Cousins is doing and the fact you would have a few guys with claim as the best point. So it's doubtful for me.

He's having that sort of impact for sure. Have to see how the rest of the year plays out but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he has a top-5 campaign.

(North Carolina says you're welcome btw  )
