amazing playoff performances by role players

Post#1 » by RSCD3_ » Tue Dec 16, 2014 6:44 pm

Every year theres always a role players ( not just scrubs ) that has a great game and changes the course of a playoff series, what are some good examples of decent players going berserk on the court during the playoffs and who stepped up their game a lot when it mattered.
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

In 2013, Nate Robinson of the Bulls scored 34 points in Game 4 of a first round series against the Nets.

This included Robinson going on a one-man 12-0 run late in the fourth quarter, nearly erasing a 14-point deficit. The Bulls eventually won the game in triple overtime and went on to win the series.

Other stats from game
Shot 14/23 from the field, including 4/7 from 3-point range

23 points in 4th quarter, 1 point short of Bulls playoff record held by Michael Jordan

Played only 28 minutes

Boris Diaw in the 2006 playoffs, especially the WCF against Dallas. Averaged almost 19/7/5 on 19 PER and 57% TS in 20 postseason games that year, and 24/8.5/3/almost 2 blocks against the Mavericks (including two 30 point games - 34 in game 1, 30 in game 6).

Diaw always had the talent to be a borderline All-Star, kinda like Lamar Odom (not as talented, but both pretty unique - their court vision, handles and versatility for their size is very impressive - Odom obviously stayed on that borderline All-Star level for a few years, despite never getting an All-Star nod, while the only time when Diaw played like that for an entire season was in '05-'06 (averaged 13/7/6 on 17 PER, 56% TS in the regular season, and then obviously improved in the playoffs).

Mario Chalmers against OKC in game 4. Miami really needed it too with LeBron suffering from cramps in the 4th quarter. Gave Miami the insurmountable 3-1 lead.

Fisher's 16 points, 11 in the 4th in game 3 of the 2010 finals.

Odom's 19/19 to roast the Suns in game 1 of the 2010 WCF.

KENDRICK Perkins had a 16/19/7 blocks game against the Bulls in 2009.

Nick Van Exel averaged 25 PPG at 60+ TS against the Kings in 03. He made 45 percent of his threes and some of them were ridiculous. It was over 7 games also

Horry in game 5 is probably the gold standard, at least in my lifetime.

Danny Green is one of the greatest role players in NBA playoffs history, too. He has a ridiculous 48% 3-point mark in the past 2 playoff runs on massive volume, along with top-level defense. I don't know how many perimeter role players have been better in the playoffs since I've been watching basketball, there certainly aren't many.
