I immediately noticed assists are grossly under-tallied. Some extremely obvious assists are simply not tallied, I'm not even talking examples of a guy dribbling first/putting the ball on the floor before the basket (which back then was not tallied an assist like it would be today). I mean clear examples of one-touch passes and the guy receiving the pass goes right up into the shot not being counted as assists. So take those low assist numbers with a grain of salt and watch the film and you'll see how much great passing was actually being done.

I agree. In the all star games from the late 60's and early 70's that I have game film of, they all are practically playoff-level competitive.
