I'd take Charles Wade. :D Wade is Barkley's middle name, lol.

Seriously though, I'd take Wade. Comparable offense (well, Barkley was slightly better, but it's a really small gap), and Wade was clearly better defensively.

If this is a "who's had the best year" kind of comparison, I would take Wade as well. Barkley's five-year peak (85-91) was, however, better and certainly longer than Wade's peak, which probably only lasted three seasons.

Barkley as a stretch 4 in today's NBA would be a killer.

Well, Barkley's greatest strength was his low post scoring, and he was a mediocre outside shooter. He would still be unguardable in the post, though.

I know what you mean with the strech 4 thing (he was a great ballhandler for a PF, even better than Blake Griffin is today), but I just wanted to say that Barkley isn't really a stretch 4 in the same way as Dirk, Love, Bosh, Aldridge etc. Long range shooting is not his strength.

Well that's only because 3 point shooting wasn't as stressed in Barkley's time as it is today. I have no doubt in my mind that if Barkley played today he would have stretched his range out to the 3 point line.

He already had 3-point range when he played, he was taking a lot of shots from out there, but he just wasn't a good shooter from outside. He shot only 26.6% on 1.9 attempts for his career, and when the 3-point line was at the same distance as it is today, he peaked at only 30.3% on 2.9 attempts, in 1993 (he had one season with almost 34% on over 3 attempts per game, in 1995, but obviously the 3-point line was shortened that year, so it was more like a very long two than a three).

Well, there's one good thing about Barkley taking outside shots, even if he missed most of those - it made his game more unpredictable and more difficult to anticipate his moves.

As all-around players, I'd take Wade due to his superior defensive ability and Charles' lack of defense.

However, I wouldn't disagree if others pick Charles. He was not human offensively and rebounding
