2015-16 Harden

-114 ORtg (worst since rookie year, 118 last year)
-108 Drtg (tied for career worst, 103 last year)
-Win Shares/48- .198 (worst since second year, .265 last year)
-RPM- 4.97, good for 17th (last year 8.5, good for 3rd)
-Single year RAPM- negative .19 (last year, 4.8 and top ten)

Free throw rate is down, 3pt% is a career worst, turnovers are a career worst, he's shooting a career low % of shots at the rim.

What's going on with this guy? McHale said he came in overweight. Is it that simple?

Did come into camp out of shape and played poorly out of the gate, but basically back to his original form since then.

Mostly his team has become total trash.

Absolutely no production out of the PG or PF position.

A competent player in Ariza at SF, and a complete embarrassment of a season by Brewer.

Its basically been Harden, Howard, Capella and Ariza and everyone else has been pure garbage.

Looking at his splits, in January he was still only +5 in net Rating which is low for him and -3.1 in plus/minus.

Also his teammates sucking can explain the Rockets record but doesn't really explain Harden's lower metrics.

Really strange for an MVP talent.

And even Ariza has been bad on Defense this year. Lately Harden has been on a stretch better than anything last year. After the ASB the defense is 16.6 points per 100 BETTER with him on the court and he's scoring 35 pointer per game on over 50% from the field, along with 8 assists per

Him starting the season out of shape really tanked his metrics because he was horrible scoring the ball for like 12 games and his defense was the worst it's been in years longer than that. he's still digging out of that hole

Tonight he churned out a pretty good game vs. Philly. Really am liking how Harden has played after the ASG.

It's on the part of his teammates to play to Harden's strengths and mask his weaknesses. The bottom of the Western Conference Playoff Picture is closer than I initially thought, we could easily slip into the 6th seed with a good stretch and a slow down on Portland's run. I'd rather we tank the season to retain our pick, but the Utah Jazz are making that hard on us since they are failing to win games.

The problem with this stat is it doesn't account for teammates. He is playing most minutes with Dwight, Ariza and Beverley.

By individual ortg and drtg he is still at or near career worsts

FWIW, those tweets are speaking of a rather particular stretch of games. Harden's ORTG over the 8 games indicated is 118.

From Jan 17 forward, it's actually 121.

You're going to want to avoid leaning on seasonal stats at this point, given that we're talking about his performance since emerging from his earlier slump.

Harden in March (9 games):
112 ortg
109 drtg
.582 ts%
.271 3pt% (over 7 attempts per game)
Almost 6 turnovers per game

29, 9, and 6 on 34.6 USG.

Not sure we can say it's a slow start anymore. Its not like Dec-Jan were as good as 2015 Harden anyway

You're taking numbers from the stretch where he hit a shooting slump. Jan-Feb were arguably better than anything from Harden last season.

He's about 34.2% from 3 for the year. Last year he shot .375. Seems like a season long slump. He's only had one month above .375 this year.

Last year he also played some solid defense IMO and had fewer turnovers.

His NETRtg in Jan-Feb this year were +5 and +7. Last year his NETRtg for the YEAR was +15 and he was +20 in December. His Jan-Feb 2016 ORtgs were 117 and 116. He posted two months of 122 ORTg last year. His +/- numbers were also much better last year. (For comparison, Curry's ORtg was 122 last year and 126 this year, so Harden was reasonably close to him on offense).

Dude was an amazing player last year, thought he'd be in the MVP conversation every year, but he's clearly not this year. Hopefully he returns to form next year because it was fun to watch (I dont buy that watching him get to the FT line is boring, he's attacking the rim)

James Harden's team was also way better than it is now last year, everyone has regressed, so offensive rating is kinda skewed. Not a good statistic to use for a single player over different seasons. He has not been shooting as well as he did last yet but that nine game stretch and the first 10 or so games are the only stretches where he was a bad shooter

looks like he is going to set the record for turnovers in a season. at least he will be remembered for something, oh and the flopping/flailing of course.

By player tracking plus minus he's dropped from top 10 last 2 years to put of the top 30 this year.

His first year Houston, with Lin and Asik as his main support he had better numbers and a +10 net Rating.

Harden in his last 21 games:

30.4 points
6.0 rebounds
8.8 assists
2.0 steals

60.1% TS

Also 5.1 turnovers per game, but he's been great lately, in spite of those huge TOV numbers. His AST/TOV ratio is still pretty decent for a SG, though.

This will be the second season in a row Harden leads the league in total minutes played.

Had there even been an offense completely dedicated to one player in history. His MPG and USG% checks all the right marks.
