Apocalypse lineup on the floor
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

I know it's the Warriors thread but god damn. Kawhi with off the dribble stuff might be the best player in the league. I'm well aware that mostly it's bulldozing a smaller player in Klay but wow.

Death lineup gets amazing shots as expected. Pau shouldn't be in there. And as I type that he gets subbed out.

Iggy doesn't look like the same player. I'm fairly worried about decline from him.

Klay seems very quiet and lost in the mix.

His defense hasnt looked good this game and he dropped a couple easy fastbreak opportunities.

Kd can score anywhere in any system. Guy really is the Barkley of this generation IMO. Team Usa, new teams, Brooks system he will do his thing. Still questioning how much he can scale this team tho.

How much does he need to? Lifting a +12-13 team by a point or two is good enough

There's plenty improvement to be had when you look at how the team performed in the postseason. He's not there to increase their regular season margins.

With the way these teams are currently constituted, the Spurs are consistently going to be able to rack up paint points and win the battle of the boards in this matchup (including feasting on 2nd chance opportunities). They also have the talent defensively to make it tough on anyone and possess the clearly deeper bench (as was on display tonight.) If this was the Tony Parker of 4-5 years ago who could still live in the paint and get to the basket at will, I might even feel confident in picking the Spurs in this matchup, but that guy doesn't exist anymore (that guy would feast against the dubs rim protection). As is, you still have to like the warriors based on shear talent, but there are some matchup edges San Antonio has that are sustainable.

I mean everyone is going to be all over Kawhi's nuts after this game because he looks like the best player in the league but Aldridge is absolutely demolishing them inside. And he's mobile enough to stick with Green in small lineups (Pau should not be on the court). 7 o boards and scoring inside easily.

Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson are going to savage this team on the boards.

Yep. And Lebron and Kyrie against this rim protection.... Golden State is going to have to be bonkers offensively to win this thing, but they absolutely can be that. I'm not going to overreact to one game, but as talented as the warriors are they do have clear flaws. I would still make them the favorites, but I'm still fascinated to see this play out

crazy.

Last year the Spurs couldn't score at all against the Warriors, which is why I never saw them as that big of a threat to them, and here they are getting whatever they want offensively.

Replacing Bogut's 18-25min of rim protection and rebounding is going to be a bit difficult, no?

It's just one game, so I don't want to overreact, but the Warriors look far more mortal than I thought they would - before the season I wouldn't have thought there was a realistic chance of the Warriors losing a game by 20+ where all of their starters play and are healthy. Rim protection and rebounding look like they're going to be major issues, but maybe Kerr adjusts their defensive scheme to get more out of Durant and Draymond in those areas.

If we get to January and the Warriors interior defense still looks porous against high level teams, does anybody think there's a chance the Warriors make a trade (probably involving Iggy) for a big?

Two things:

1. 54-34 difference in rebounds, 20-8 in offensive rebounds. Who fixes this?
2. When does Klay assume the Manu role and go to the bench?

Klay's game doesn't resemble Manu's much at all. I don't see why you'd want him to move to the bench.

Against worse IQ teams this result probably won't happen. But in the playoffs this could be very scary as I feel Curry gets non-impactful stats(high numbers/less impact) in Spurs games. I would imagine they start to go on blowing out the other 26 teams in the league

Really unimpressed with the bench for the Warriors tonight (well, the starters didn't exactly impress either for their standards, but you get my point). Think they'll probably have to turn to one of Looney/McGee over West for help on the glass. Zaza with only 20 minutes seems a bit strange too.

3pt shooting returning to normalish (~40% for both teams), essentially makes this game a toss-up.

Because the bench was annihilated and he was lost in the starting line up.

I wonder if the Warriors title odds will drop significantly in Vegas after tonight. Vegas had them as the heaviest favorite entering the season ever. It is only one game but this team has real deficiencies when it comes to rebounding and protecting the rim.
