Kobe's 62pts in 3 quarters VS Klays 60pts in 3 quarters

Post#1 » by GSP » Tue Dec 6, 2016 5:41 am

Which was the more impressive display?

Kobe had 62 in 32mins of playing time, .738ts
Klay had 60 in 29mins of playing time, .793ts

Id still go with Kobe for the defensive attention he got, no Curry/Kd and outscoring the entire Mavs. But Klay was incredible.

Offensively, this Warriors team is speechless. I mean come on, when you have 3 or 4 guys who can explode for 50 every nights, it's not funny.

Klay didn't have 25 free throws to pad his total and TS%. I'm going with Klay.

Klay works so completely in the shadows it's just not the same thing. Nobody gears up to stop Klay anymore. Nobody leaves Steph or Durant to help on Klay. Massively impressive game of course, but I doubt he could duplicate it surrounded by Smush Parker and Kwami Brown.

Klay's 60 is impressive, that's a given whenever a player explodes for over 50. But context being added, it's behind Kobe's FU to the other team and their soul. Kobe did it with scrubs man. Not the scrubs the nurses and docs wear. Human scrubs. It's just more difficult to do, and as such, more impressive.

Gotta go with Kobe. Much love to Klay, but when you're getting fed by Curry and Draymond, and have Curry and Durant to take pressure off of you, it makes a difference.

Still...incredible shooting night. 60 points in less than 30 minutes is nothing short of amazing.

Do Steph Curry and Kevin Durant feel like Smush Parker and Luke Walton to you?

Sorry man, love Klay's night, but it's nothing like Kobe solo'ing a 60 W team.

I counted at least 9 of Klay's FGs were wide open shots/layups.

Great game by Klay but Kobe was more impressive by a mile

Kobe's fellow starters that night were Chris Mihm, Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown and Smush Parker. Dude was hitting fadeaway 3s with two defenders draped on him and those Mavs were title contenders when Kobe outscored them by himself. Much love to Klay but this is not nearly the same thing.

1. Mavs lost the Finals vs Heat in the same year when Kobe dropped 62.
2. Kobe outscored the whole Mavs team.
3. Kobe's teammates were Lamar Odom, Smush Parker, Chris Mihm and Brian Cook.

1. Klay did it versus Pacers - very good team but not even close to Mavs level.
2. Klay had Curry, Durant and Green.
3. Most of his shots were wide open.

It's obvious that it's Kobe and it's not even close. Monster game by Klay but doing it versus better team with much worse teammates is much more difficult.

Tough to say. With what they had around them it is Kobe for sure, but then again for someone to do that with all that talent around them in Klay is remarkable in itself

Definitely Kobe. He was almost a one man team, Odom was the only other really good player on the Lakers, on paper his team was overmatched by the Mavs. It was just an UNREAL performance, honestly it's the most impressive thing Kobe ever did in his career, in my opinion. He was hitting much more difficult shots with FAR less catch and shoot, and more defensive pressure on him.

Klay still had double digit FTA in that game, and we can also look at it a different way - why can't Kobe get credit for having the ability to draw so many fouls? I remember most of the fouls on him in that game were legit fouls, not the infamous "superstar calls" or "phantom" fouls.

Clearly what Klay did was amazing, but when you consider the quality of the teams involved in both games I'm really surprised this poll is so close.

Kobe by landside.
1.kobe scored more points than Klay .
2. Two very different times in league.
3. Their team comparison is astounding how much talent the Warriors have. More than the showtime lakers in the 80s.

What klay did as scoring performance was amazing . Could he have beaten kobes 81 performance we will never know.

KLay doesn't have the entire focus of defenses on him, but he also doesn't have the offense focused around him either. Doing this as a 3rd option with limited touches and 11 dribbles is insane. This is special in its own way.

Kobe's might be more impressive, but we are probably more likely to see someone do something similar to what he did than we are to see Klay's performance replicated.

Kobe easily. He did it against a good team and was playing with scrubs while the entire defense was focused on him. Klay is a deadly third option on the Warriors and the attention the previous two MVPs he plays with get him all kinds of open looks. Not diminishing his game, he was incredible and scoring 60 in 3 quarters is nuts, but imo Kobe had a more impressive game when you consider the context and the teams they play(ed) for
