Rank the defense of the offensive centers.

Post#1 » by Mamba4Goat » Sun Jan 15, 2017 8:43 pm

How would you rate strictly in terms of defense (individual and team defense) the likes of:
Greg Monroe
Jonas Valanciunas
Nikola Vucevic
Brook Lopez
Al Jefferson
Jahlil Okafur
Enes Kanter
...and I think those are the ones worth mentioning. Let me know if anyone doesn't really fit on this list or I missed someone.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Ha....good question.

Have to think about it, but Kanter and Lopez have to be at the bottom of any list....

Jefferson sucks, but he's better then Kanter and Lopez.

Okafor's still pretty clearly last right now. Though he's young enough he could move up.

I'd go:
Lopez
Jonas
Vuc (would be lower before this year)
Monroe
Jefferson
Kanter
Okafor

Lopez is slow but long and generally decent at being in position.

I'd probably put Valanciunas at or near the top. Guys like Monroe and Vucevic are at least near the middle, imo (and could arguably be like #2 and #3). Kanter's gotta be near the bottom. Jefferson probably near the middle(ish).
I've not seen enough of the rest to judge: have seen a fair bit of Brook in seasons past (in which he seemed kinda "meh"---though not terrible---defensively), but must admit I've watched almost nothing of the Nets this year (they're not really providing much reason to watch unless you're a die-hard fan, you know?).
