Lebron will surpass Michael Jordan

Post#1 » by notagain » Mon Apr 3, 2017 6:13 am

In every statistical measure Lebron will go down as better than Michael Jordan. The only thing he might not shatter is rings, but to make up for that Lebron will have made it to at least 7 straight finals and has had probably the best 5 -6 year stretch in the history of the NBA, he's doing things that haven't been done since Bill Russell's days when there were like 6 teams.

Lebron's Miami years where he was averaged 27-8-7 on 57%FG 38%3PT are some of the most dominating numbers in league history for a wing player. That level of production and efficiency on a team with multiple stars is insane.

Sure, he will surpass MJ in terms of "lost finals"

Actually he already does. 3-0 and counting.

I really don't think so. The bar that MJ has set is stupidly high.

Maybe he already has.

Some people thought he did years ago.

But, LeBron still has a ways to go, you can't claim to be the King without the throne.

When Lebron retires, he'll have more points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks. How is he not better than Jordan as he has contributed significantly more stats in the NBA? Jordan played for the better team, arguably had the better prime, but Lebron's the better individual. Remember when Jordan didn't have help in the 80's? Was he successful in the playoffs? The answer is no, he didn't even get to lost the finals. And I never understood why losing in the first round would be better than losing in the finals.

Anyone saying he won't is just biased against LeBron. It certainly is a very real possibility. Only player to ever lead both finals teams in points, rebounds and assists, and he's done it two years in a row. I think he needs 3 more rings, but even f he doesn't get them, he will still have a great case.

I truly believe at their absolute best LeBron is a more all-around impactful player than Jordan. You could argue LeBron is a better franchise carrier, and Jordan is a better ceiling raiser. I think it's going to be extremely difficult to pass up Jordan all-time just because of the rings argument, the narrative, god-like status of Jordan, etc., but anyone who thinks LeBron isn't on that level of player is just lying to themselves.

It's a possibility but I doubt it happens. I think he'll go down as the consensus 2nd GOAT.

And ringzzzzz is not my argument for this, I think MJ was a slightly better player overall in peak and prime. LeBron's window is open because he could gain a significant edge in longevity.

Better to lose in the finals than first round tho, right?

I hope he will. It all depends with the Warriors IMO.

Getting to the Finals is way better than losing in the first round or missing the playoffs altogether.

LeBron still has to catch Kobe. Kobe is ahead in most categories, all-star games, all nba, all defense, championships.

Not necessarily. There is nothing wrong with losing to a superior team... Doesn't matter if it's the first round or if it's the finals.

The difference is Jordan's Bulls never lost to an inferior team. Jordan never had a melt down like Lebron did against the Mavs. Unlike Lebron, MJ gave his all no matter what. Even when he lost, he went down swinging.
