Is there a way the Cavs get Millsap without giving up much?

He's a FA who will likely get the max... so no. They'd have to lose multiple guys and then some... which I don't think they'd want to do.

Furthermore, the Cavs literally are forbidden from doing a sign-and-trade because they are over the "apron" (essentially too far above the tax line).

The time to have traded for Milsap was at the deadline, which I advocated on this very thread. Love-for-Milsap then was a perfect match salary-wise and would have made the Cavs a MUCH better matchup against GSW, since Milsap could guard Green, Zaza, or even Durant some (unlike Love). And Love was mostly terrible on offense too.

But of course, because the Cavs won in 2016 - DESPITE, not because of, Love - they stuck with the stupid "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory, even though GSW were much improved with Durant and the Cavs needed to try to upgrade as well.

Striking out on both Butler and George, and ending up with a Kyrie-LeBron-Melo trio is literally the worst thing imaginable. They get worse on both sides of the ball.

Love for Melo straightup is not a fair deal. Knicks would have to give up more

They only get worse on offense if Melo proves he can't be unselfish. Otherwise, Melo at the 4 is even more of a mismatch than Love and I don't see Melo getting bullied by Klay and Durant like Love did

I know I'm beating the same drum here but a lineup of Kyrie JR Lebron Melo Love has a punchers chance. Let's stop talking about Melo for Love because that trade isn't happening anymore like it would've last year. This year the Knicks will be happy with TT and a scrub prospect like Cedi or Felder

Olympic Melo is coming to the Cavs

Langston Galloway might be a good off the bench PG for the Cavs now that he's opped out. Not sure if they'll be able to afford him if he looks for money over team quality.

Well, if the Cavs do this (presumably something like Love + Shump for Aldridge + Green), then LeBron is definitely gone next year...

This is the only franchise that would trade Love for LMA. What a disaster.

How did LaMarcus look against GSW? Offensively? Defensively?

Maybe:

Spurs get: Love

Suns get: Aldridge

Cavs get: Green + picks from PHX

Awesome for the Wolves. KAT + Jimmy + Wiggins + Thibs could beat the Warriors in a couple years!

What would the Cavs do with picks?

I can't believe the Bulls didn't like the 4th pick package from the Suns in a three-way trade better than the Wolves' offer. So much for Butler staying for the supermax.

Not likely unless KAT turns into Hakeem defensively and Wiggins actually starts to be an impactful player on offense and defense.

Essentially trading Love for Green would be awful. Trading Love for LMA would be awful.

Meanwhile, that's great news for the Wolves.

Well, thank god my Wolves got Butler.

As is, LeBron will be staying in the East another year. No way he comes to the West to face the "LeBron Stopper" in Lebron James.

Bulls are such a trash front office.

Lma is the worst fit with Lebron. He thinks he don't like it in San Antonio he'll hate it with us.

If Lavine recovers I like him more than the 4th, plus him missing could be a boon to their pick.

If Cavs get green and the Suns pick maybe they can trade Jackson to Knicks for Melo+Ntilikina so they shore up a backup PG. Turning Love into Green, Melo, French Frank. Great defensive lineup potential with Frank, Swish, Green, Bron, TT. Dunno this still doesn't make sense lol.
