Coleman. Wallace, for all his skill, lacked some explosion, and as such, was not much of a face up drive threat. Coleman could do anything he wanted to. Period. Unfortunately, he rarely wanted to play defense. Look at the way he wrecked shop in the playoffs, when he actually meant business.

In his first three playoffs Coleman averaged about 24, 12 and 5.

At 32 he still averaged 20, 12, and 3.5

At 35 he still averaged 13.5 and 8.

Coleman was a freak of nature when he wanted to be.

Rasheed was an amazing defender, but in terms of talent, Coleman had the talent to get that defense too, and he could do things offensively I just don't think Sheed could have done.

Can someone tell me how Coleman was supposedly be amazing? The guy was a career 45% shooter.

That's what happens when you decide to take more jumpers than you need to. And of course, he was injured (and fat) and robbed of a good deal of athleticism.

He was supposed to be amazing, that's the knock on him. Every time I see an NBA players most hated list, Derrick Coleman is always in there and the highlight of his captions are always "he's just good enough to collect his next paycheck."

Coleman was more skilled, but Wallace was more naturally talented.

Coleman was a 7' who could rebound, score from anywhere and had great passing and courtvision skills for a guy his size. Coleman could pass from the post or in transition, and his ballhandling skills were crazy.

Wallace was 6'11 who could run the floor and jump out of the building. With his postgame and defense, paired with his perimeter shooting touch - IMO he had the skill and talent to be THE best PF of all-time.

A better question is which was a bigger waste of talent.

i disagree. it's rather clear that Coleman is the bigger waste of talent.

x2. Coleman could have been much better, neither realized their full potential though.

Wallace is the bigger waste of talent. Coleman never had the length or range of Sheed. Not to mention Sheed had game changing defensive potential. Sheed was also pretty explosive when he first came into the league. I swear he lost all his muscle definition three yeears into the league.

I''ll go with DC here. Coleman was vastly superior at creating for himself and others. Sheed can only dream of having his handles and his passing ability. DC was also a much better rebounder and he is the only player I remember to posterise Shaq and block his alley-oop in the same game.
