What kind of leap are you wanting?

When we traded Hunter to Cleveland, Dyson had the second most attempts per game (12.1) on the team, but that was primarily due to Jalen Johnson being injured.

I won't be surprised if Dyson has a decline in attempts this season but more productive on offense.

I assume these four players will average double digit attempts: Trae, Zacch, Jalen, and KP. Coach will need to figure things out because OO will need his touches.

I am hoping Trae can be back down to 15 attempts per game like he was at during one point last season.

He's left open a lot. His offensive move is the spineroo, floaty looking thing, adding an off the dribble pull up jumper would be nice and more consistency from 3 and fix his 56% from the free throw line.
Trae's attempts will be what they are based on his teammates AVAILABILITY to play and ABILITY to hit their open shots.
That's how I feel about DD.
I want to see if he averages 12 attempts per game with the new additions.

2025-26 Dyson Daniels Player Preview

Defensively, the league knows Daniels will be among its best and the Hawks can rely on this. The improvement many, including Daniels, will be wanting to see made is offensively. An expanded offensive game, which Daniels mentioned on media day was something he had worked on, is going to be useful, but if he’s able to increase his three-point efficiency (34% last season) and his free throw percentage (just 59% on 1.8 attempts); these would be big bonuses for the Hawks and for Daniels.

There are two particular areas of the court Daniels excels shooting the three, and the other side of the court lets his shooting percentage down massively. The above-the-break three in particular was poor, even a small uptick there would boost Daniels’ overall three-point shooting to 35-36% and be a huge bonus for a player who plays the defense that he does.

Daniels says he has added to his overall offensive game in order to be able to generate offense from differing positions and situations, particularly in the mid-range. The mid-range was not an area that Daniels took a lot of shots in last season...

"I worked a lot on my mid-range game, being able to get to spots, different pickups, different footwork getting into shots — trying to develop that offensive bag. That’s been the main focus this summer," said Daniels of his summer during the Hawks’ media day.

Per
@JakeLFischer | @TheSteinLine

- Dyson Daniels could command an offer sheet in the $30 million-per-season range if multiple teams possess the cap space to make such offers during the 2026 offseason.
- There’s currently some separation between Dyson Daniels and the Hawks during the early phase of contract negotiations.
- He’s expected to be a highly sought-after restricted free agent next summer if negotiations were to reach that point, despite the possibility of another tight market for RFAs in 2026.

This is absolutely a concern I have once Hawks make a playoff run.

Teams will sag off Dyson, giving him the old 'Tony Allen treatment'.It'll be interesting to see how and if the Hawks can adapt.

I am currently in Australia and still 35hrs by car from Dysons hometown.

I have still not seen any Dyson Daniels attire. Not even at two airports.

Tim Bontemps wrote:NBA rookie contract extension decisions

Dyson Daniels, Atlanta Hawks

Why an extension could get done: Daniels is a huge success story for Atlanta. He came to the Hawks last summer as part of the trade that sent Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans and became the NBA's Most Improved Player last season while leading the league in steals (229, the most in a season by any player since Gary Payton in 1995-96). The Hawks were able to get a deal done at the deadline with Jalen Johnson last year, and it wouldn't be hard to see them find a way to get one done for Daniels. -- Tim Bontemps

Why it might not: His agent, Daniel Moldovan, is using the five-year, $150 million extension Jalen Suggs signed last year as the comparison for Daniels, while also assessing Trae Young's uncertain future in Atlanta. Daniels was named first-team All-Defense, finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting and increased his offensive production from 5.8 to 14.1 points. But Young has a $49 million player option next season and has been eligible to sign an extension since mid-June. -- Bobby Marks

What I would offer: Five years, $125 million. The contract would remain flat at $25 million per season. Factoring in the new contract for Daniels, and Young's player option, Atlanta would be $26 million below the luxury tax and comfortably beneath both aprons. -- Marks

Will it happen?: If last year's negotiations with Johnson are a guide -- where the two sides haggled over it and then got a deal done right before the deadline -- then this one probably will go right up to Monday's deadline. The guess here is something gets done, but landing on a number both sides agree on could be difficult. -- Bontemps

$30m per season is what I expected.
I hope our front office pays him.

First I've seen of the Hawks offer.
I'm good with that as an early extension which is his caphold for next offseason.
He needs to improve his 53% freethrow shooting.

Dyson Daniels seeking $150 million contract extension with HawksOct. 20, 2025, 7:39 AM EDT

Reigning NBA Most Improved Player, All-Defensive First Team selection, and steals champion Dyson Daniels and agent Daniel Moldovan have been seeking a five-year, $150 million deal during extension negotiations with the Atlanta Hawks, league sources told HoopsHype. However, the Hawks have been closer to a ballpark range of five years, $115 million,
