Would you guys trade Josh Smith for Anderson Varejao, Alonzo Gee and a first (Miami Heat pick)

Varejao is a bargain contract and would allow Al to play the 4 fulltime. Gee is a decent wingman off the bench, pretty athletic and can get to rim compliments your shooters well.

No. Varejao is not very young, and while in a vacuum it's not terrible value, it doesn't address our long term needs. We would need some young players coming back, something that I think Cleveland wouldn't be willing to send given how young their team is.

Right. Cleveland will want to hold on to their young players and build up their strength together as a team. I do think Varejao has possibility of being a valuable player though.

I like that line-up, I can't complain. I'd certainly consider it.

It's pretty bad for the Hawks. Atlanta isn't going to give the Celtics Smith to bail them out of Green's and Lee's deals.

The celtics will have to get other teams involved if they want Smith. Atl doesn't want role players on multi year deals if they decide to rebuild. Not necesarilly saying Green and Bass are awful contracts (though i think Green's is pretty bad), but they're guys you can only trade to contenders looking to fill a weakness. Bradley and Sullinger (and Melo to a lesser extent) have value but the salaries don't match up. I think boston would have to trade Green or Bass to a contender in exchange for either young talent making decent money ($5-6M) or an expiring contract, then package that with Bradley and/or Sullinger.

I would totally do Josh for Mcgee. It fills our need at Center

McGee is not worth that contract and Mcgee/Horford is worse that Smith/Horford.

I am all for trading josh, but the Center we get needs to be a better center than Al Horford(as I don't think Al is a better PF than Josh).

McGee is decent but his contract is horrible.

Not a chance, and I actually like Mcgee; Horford is the much better player, is a true leader, actually has an IQ, and is signed to a great contract. A late first can't make up for the difference

The Gasol to Atlanta deal has been proposed and shot down by Atlanta fans every single time on the trade board. The deal just doesn't make much sense for the Hawks. Gasol isn't a true center and has brought his struggles from the playoffs over. I don't think bringing in Gasol big deal does anything for Ferry's big picture.
