Im ok with a traditional big, even the spurs have Tiago Splitter :)

D12 is also very limited and hes arguably a top or THE top center.

Robin Lopez/Brook Lopez.........

Centers dont shoot well outside, just the way it is. I think if you have an inside presence LIKE monroe you rely less on the jumpers which is good as an option.

Did you really just compare Monroe and D12? I would forgive Monroe's offensive shortcomings in a heartbeat if he provided half of what D12 provides on defense and rebounding. D12 is elite defensively, the best in the league. Monroe offers next to nothing on the defensive end.

You will notice that the Spurs don't play Tiago at the end of games also. Hell, there are times when he doesn't play much at all.

Robin and Brook Lopez?? Who cares about either one. Robin is trash on offense and Brook is trash on defense.

Ya'll are really having to stretch to make an argument for Monroe here.

Monroe is 24 so hes young. But, NO i was not comparing IDENTICAL players , I was just saying theres plenty of people who dont shoot well outside the paint that can make it work. D12 hasnt been elite on defense in awhile, not IMO.

I just think if we landed him at C it would be nice because then Millsap becomes trade fodder for a lot more teams

Howard is still elite defensively and at least he can stay in front of his man for more than half of a second when defending the pick and roll.

How does signing Monroe increase the trade value of Milsap? We don't have to give a max to Monroe to be able to trade Milsap if that is what yall are so eager to do. Trade him and go after K. Love if you're desperate to get rid of him. Or trade him and pick up Pau Gasol on a short contract. Gasol is a smarter defender and much more versatile on offense.

and what about his lack of defense? What's the point in grabbing a C if he doesn't offer any defense?

He shot 36% on 326 shots from 3-10 ft last year. That is down right terrible.

his first two years, Monroe was hitting .550FG, in the last two years, he has been hitting .490FG. i think that is because Drummond pushed him out to PF and that really affected his offense. I think if Monroe goes back to Center with Horford at PF, he can go back to .550FG

This is incorrect. Monroe shot 55% in his first year when he was taking 7 shots per game. His FG% has continued to go down as his role in the team has increased.

I will agree that having a front court of Smith/Monroe/Drummond hurt his % some but don't try to pass of 55% as some normal benchmark for Monroe. He shot 52% on 11 shots in his 2nd year and 48% on 13 shots in his 3rd year.

I would rather have a 24 year old Monroe who is HUGE potential vs Kevin Love and Pau Gasol.

Whats a max for Monroe? 15 million per year?

You guys talk like 49% is bad. If Monroe is shooting anywhere from 49-52%, then I am pretty sure he will be very effective for us.

Love is going to get WAY more money isnt he? Again im not CBA Savy.

Isnt Monroe Max 60 million (15 million per) to us? Isnt K Love 20+ million per season? Werent you and I just saying that paying someone 20 million per year is detrimental?

He's set to make 15.8 million next season. I'm not sure what the max increase is after that. I would hope we could talk him in to some kind of a paycut. I don't think we have the assets to land him anyway, unless we included Horford.

Close enough. It's technically a hair shy of $14.882M assuming the $63.2M cap.

Whether or not we're still in trade talks for Monroe is unknown. But it's word is that trading MILLSAP is NOT on the table as an option for Moose.

How about Millsap + Teague for S&T Monroe + Jennings? Millsap will be a free agent in 2015 and sure wants a big payday, that doesn't exactly improve his value for the Pistons if he is gone in one year.
If Millsap is not part of a S&T for Monroe Korver has to be included. Korver + Teague for Monroe + Jennings?

Well i can understand that because Jennings sucks and i am don't won't him on the Pistons anymore.

Millsap for Monroe would be fair value for a deal, but not when you get Monroe on a longterm deal (just entering his prime) and Millsap as an expiring contract who wants to get paid past his prime. I think the Pistons would want either Korver or Teague in a S&T for Monroe.

The problem is that Monroe can play his cards right, sign the QO and just walk away from Detroit next summer for nothing. And even if he comes back to your team this year, he's proven to be a poor fit with Drummond and Smith.

You guys, sadly, have little leverage.

I have speculated that perhaps Adreian Payne and Millsap could be worth Monroe and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Millsap is an instant starter at PF (and a great fit next to Andre). Payne is a MICHIGAN favorite and his 3-pt shooting would open the floor for the entire team. I might be willing to throw in a future 2nd rounder or John Jenkins (a 3-pt specialist returning from injury).

I doubt Monroe will sign the QO. If reports are true Pistons offered him 12 mil per season. He would give up 6.5 mil next year alone signing the QO and a lot more guaranteed longterm money looking for the max deal he wants.
He might not prefer to stay in Detroit because of Drummond/Smith occupying the front court. But there is a lot of risk involved on Monroes part too to take this route.

Take out KCP, who the Pistons like very much and i think we have a deal. Payne + Millsap for S&T longterm Monroe. I think thats a fair deal considering Millsap's contract status & age compared to Monroe.

:-?

No thanks. We'll pass.

But it's very telling that Monroe hasn't signed on with DET long-term. Clearly there are still concerns. Everyday that passes makes it more likely Pistons have to accept something in a Sign-and-Trade and getting an All Star at a position of need seems better than nothing.

Anything you think DET is willing to give up KCP for? Adreian? Teague?

No way and no thanks. I would rather just offer Monroe 13 million a year out right.

Monroe is apparently receiving the Josh Smith treatment.
Seek your own offer and we'll match because it's going to be low - like what Memphis did.

It's risky.
An injury or a bad performance could cost him dearly.
