Horrible pick. Average stretch 4, will not help this team much.

First, I REALLY LIKE THIS PICK. Strong IQ, played for a cerebral coach , 4 year experience , stretch 4, NBA size.

He's not going to start. He will be a rotation player right? Big upside.

At the draft party ferry came out and talked about the pick he said "he can run and he can shoot threes which is what we are looking for"

Can't help but notice the gaping hole still at C and SG/SF

I was torn between Harris and Payne. Still like the pick though. So far I think we got a great shot at drafting either Robinson III, Early, or KJ

I like his size, wingspan, shooting ability and the fact that he spent 4 years under coach izzo.

Is there still room for pero and scott with the addition of Payne?

On a side note, ive been impressed by silver all night. He seemed out of place during the spurs finals ceremony, but I thought he did a great job tonight. I really enjoyed the short dedication to austin. I couldnt imagine working so hard for your whole life only to have your dreams crushed one week before they are realized.

Will not be a rotation player for this team and should not be. He will be a bust and out of the league relatively quickly

Really don't think so. I watched him play a lot. He's tough, good IQ and good character.

He may not be an all star talent but he will be a really nice piece

I guess Scott is out if they wanna develop Payne.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

He's a solid selection. Easily a rotation player due to his defense and rebounding.

But I am a little underwhelmed by the selection. This is the highest draft pick we've had since 2007. I was really hoping we'd be taking a swing for the fences. Shooting for a superstar. Ferry seems to be playing things too safe in my estimation.

We missed out on Dario to the other Gregg Poppovich disciple in the East.

This definitely shows that Ferry had concerns regarding the front court going forward.

Another possibility, mentioned on 92.9 earlier, is the idea of trading Millsap at his peak value. Very reasonable expiring deal for an all-star.

I really like the idea of Payne playing the 5 and Al moving finally to 4. They would probably complement each other nicely. They can easily switch off on defense. Payne will need to get stronger and catch up to the speed of the NBA, but I think he will be an excellent addition.

Horford/Millsap/Scott/Muscula/Bebe/Antic

How are you going to play 7 big men when 6 of them are similar?

Horford/Millsap/Scott/Muscula/Antic are all stretch bigs.

Which one of those guys is Payne currently better than? Maybe Muscula and that is all.

Payne is better than :
Antic , Scott, muscala . he's a better rebounder and defender than any of those guys.

Is he ready to produce? I think so. Right now our front court got younger and way more athletic.

I don't need antic muscala and bebe. Antic is gone now IMO.

I also think this means a possible trade of Millsap coming.

Payne isn't better than Antic or Scott and may not even be better than Muscala.

Muscala and Scott had better offensive and defensive rebounding numbers as seniors.

Good god. That's a big man.

Sorry Scott is a tweener and antic ,while I like him, he's barely a bench player on any other team.

Payne is a solid pick. I'd take Paynes athleticism over antic anyday. And his size over scotts. We needed depth and we just got it.

I'm disappointed we were three picks away from drafting Robinson III...but holy crap...did you see that big dude!? Obviously he's a big project if he just started playing basketball at 18 but I have a lot of confidence in our coaching staff to develop him. I think he was a steal at (43)

Payne looks solid from the videos I have seen. I was very impressed by his flexibility and agility that he displayed on the first dunk of the dunk contest. The one where he did a 180 and then tapped his toes with the ball. He should be a definite upgrade over Antic.
