Not reading much into it, Golden State was on the last of a 6 game East trip and the 4th game in 5 nights, Dallas has faltered some with Parsons and especially Chandler being out. It doesn't even matter what the Nets do on their own, it matters what Boston, Charlotte, Miami, Indiana and Detroit do too as they are in various forms of impressive and disastrous play themselves.

Dallas was missing half of their team and golden st was playing their 4th game in 5 nights and had just used all their energy on a huge comeback win the night before. I know the gsw game was in trouble when they beat boston. If they lost to Boston, they would have worked Brooklyn.

Brooklyn has had the benefit of some good situations lately. They even played new orleans without davis but couldnt pull it through.

I think indiana is a lock for a playoff spot. Miami has an easier schedule that Brooklyn so they should be able to hold on to one as well.

Plus if we win the title the league might just do us a solid and give us a top 3.

The lotto goes on at the start of the conference finals but the NBA can go ahead and give it to us anyway :D .

They can tell the refs who to favor before the lotto though.

The schedule has been very kind to the Nets lately. They catch the Hornets in a bad spot tonight. This will be the Hornets 3rd game in 4 nights while the Nets are well rested.

This is shaping up to be a great night.

The Nets get stomped by Charlotte. Boston wins on a buzzer beater. Indy has won. Now we need Detroit and Miami to finish strong.

Nets are an enigma. Beat the Mavs and Warriors, look great since the AS break, and then come home and lose to Charlotte by 25. They look like they'll get it together and then they look fall apart, then they look like they're done far, and they come back and look great. This can either be as low as the 16th pick or as high as the 9th-10th with a possible shot at top 3. Let's hope its the latter.

Lotto happens before a CF game. How amazing would it be if it's announced that we've won the lotto and are picking first, and then the team proceeds to take care of business in the game later that night. I know that the NBA won't allow it with the Knicks and Lakers in the lotto as well but man, I can dream.

They just got lucky and caught Dallas, LAC and GSW in terrible spots. The Nets are still the garbage team that we all know and love and they will continue to lose.

I just wish Detroit wouldn't have made the trade for Reggie Jackson. They have fallen off a cliff since he was given the keys.

Nets got better replacing KG with Thad Young, but I don't think it makes a huge difference. They're a bad team that is fortunate to play at the bottom of the East.

Brooklyn with another L tonight. Im guessing that we will end up with the 9th or 10th pick depending on if Boston can finish ahead of Brooklyn

Alot of mock drafts already have Porzingis falling to the Hawks, which is pretty good if the Hawks can nab him in the late lottery.

Has a team that started off in the 10-14 range of the lotto ever hit the jack pot and move all the way to up the number #1 overall pick?

Since the odds changes? None http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/lottery_winners

But no worries, there's been much more luck involved with the 9th slot which the Nets are currently slotted.

It looks like the Magic did in 1993.

Just give me a top 3 and I will be happy.

Orlando winning it back to back in '92 and '93 is what prompted the NBA to change the way the odds were weighted, decreasing the chances for a best teams to win and increasing the chances for the worst team to win. Since then, no, no team outside of the top 9 has won the lotto.

I'm sure this thread and Nets watch will get more and more intense over the last few weeks of the season, especially when we lock up first with a number of weeks left. Got crushed by the Hornets tonight. Hoping the Pistons overtake them so that we can move up one more spot to 8, don't think we'd be able to do better than that.

7th would be looking like a very real possibility if Detroit didn't mess around and trade for Reggie Jackson. I'm going to hold out hope that they get it together and start winning a few down the stretch. This Brooklyn team is about to start falling faster and faster.
