Hawks Recent Draft Picks - Where they are now

Post#1 » by azuresou1 » Tue Jan 20, 2015 10:27 pm

Thought I'd look up where our recent (defined as picked by Ferry) draft picks are right now.

Lamar Patterson - Playing for Tofas SC in Turkey (6-15). Averaging 10 PTS on 57.1 TS%, 3 REB, 2 AST, 1.5 3PTM, 2.7 TO in 29 MPG.

2013 Draft
Dennis Schroeder - Per 36 stats of 16 PTS on 50.7 TS%, 6.6 AST, 4 REB, 1.8 STL, 3.6 TOV
Lucas Noguiera - Playing for Toronto Raptors. Only 20 MP total; per 36 stats of 11 PTS on 34.2 TS%, 18 REB, 1.8 AST, 3.6 STL, 0 BLK, 3.6 TOV, 10.8 PF.
Mike Muscala - Per 36 stats of 17 PTS on 56.6 TS%, 9 REB, 1 ASTL, 1 STL, 1.7 BLK

2012 Draft
John Jenkins - For Bakersfield/Idaho, averaged 18 PTS on 65.0 TS%, 4 REB, 1.5 AST, 1 STL, 1.6 3PTM in 28 MPG
Mike Scott - Per 36 stats of 18.6 PTS on 56.6 TS%, 6.3 REB, 2.3 AST, 2.3 3PTM

Also for the love of god someone please say hi to John Jenkins. He's gone from

Yes Jenkins isn't smiling much.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

I don't think I would be smiling either if I was Jenkins. What's there to smile about?

LMAO

Poor JJ2.

I know they aren't Ferry pick, but I'd lve an update on Pape Sy and Keith Benson.

Man our draft history is woeful.

Since we stink so badly at drafting is anyone up for trading 2016's pick to phx for miles plumlee? hopefully the 30th pick

I think miles could fit nicely into our core moving forward. high motor high character etc. he's cheap this year and next. eventually we'll need bodies to replace brand and antic who obviously are not a part of any long-term plans

I don't think our draft history is actually that bad. Dennis and Scott are playing meaningful minutes for us in a year where we're at the very top of the league, and Scott in particular is a HUGE success story for a 2nd rounder. Moose is still on the roster, and very few draft picks this year would get playing time over our current rotation.

Jenkins is the only obvious failure, and I think he's had a lot of bad luck going against him. I'm hoping we call him up while Mack is injured and give him some playing time to see if he can help us.

Jenkins back surgery set him back and he's now lost in a numbers game. Especially with Bazemore's defense.

Don't forget Bebe. The highest draftee the franchise saw in almost a decade....was deemed expendable without ever even suiting up. I still think he has a chance to be special...doing the types of things Rudy Gobert is doing up in Utah.

But the fact he was acquired with a top-20 pick and then traded for unused cap space and a future 2nd rounder...makes his tenure here less than a success.

But when I mentioned our draft history, I was thinking more of the Priest Lauderdales, Dermarr Johnsons, Ed Grays, Sheldon Williamses of the world.

And also Pape Sy and Keith Benson.

It's not all bad. While we've certainly had more than our fair share of whiffs, but how many teams can say they've drafted two All-Star starters who are still with the team after their rookie deals? (Teague at 19. Horford at 3.) Not to mention, solid rotation contributors like Schröder and Scott.

Considering how immune we've been to the lottery in recent history, it's pretty impressive we've developed the core we have while flying under the radar in FA signings.

A big 8 weeks coming up for Jenkins with Thabo out. It could very well mean that he has 8 weeks to 'save' his hawks career.
He might only get 10 minutes per game but he must make them count given the hawks didn't pick up his contract option for next season.
