All the guys in the locker room loved him and said so unapologetically. Maybe it was his length or lack of defensive versatility, but at the same time, he lost minutes to Shelvin Mack at the 2 guard so I can't understand it either.

Wow! That's a great signing for both parties. Hope he does well.
I definitely think he has a chance to fill the role left vacant by the departure of Lance Stephenson.
Indy's made some interesting decisions this Summer; it'll be interesting to see how things play out next season.

A few interesting statements from Budenholzer regarding the Hawks approach to Free Agency:
Here
Coach Bud wrote:We feel like [we] had a very good summer; continuity is something that was important to us, and we were able to keep the majority of our team together.
Coach Bud wrote:As long as we're getting good players, big is important...
Coach Bud wrote:I think players are starting to appreciate more the emphasis on player development that we had the last two years, that we're going to make it a priority not just with our young players but with all players at any stage of their careers...
Coach Bud wrote:It's been a full summer. "But I watched it for 19 years in the Spurs organization. I think this is something we have a lot of confidence in, a lot of belief in. We've gotten a lot of work done this summer, and there's more work to do going into the season. But we all believe that it's going to be exciting to build on the momentum we had the last two years."

What about Dorrell Wright?
I know he was linked to the Heat earlier this summer but, as far as I know, he remains unsigned. Also, by my count, Miami currently has 16 players under contract so it seems unlikely to me that they would look to sign Wright.
I wouldn't mind playing Wright 15-20 on the wing, especially considering that Scott's status remains up in the air.

I've wanted Wright from the beginning of the summer but I have to imagine that the reason why he's still on the market is over the $ amount being offered to him by teams and what he thinks he's worth. The Hawks of course are limited to small exceptions so if he does settle for that amount I imagine it would be from a team/city he's comfortable with or a team that can offer him the most opportunity at playing time so as to make more money later.

Jason Richardson, a 13-year NBA veteran will sign a non-guaranteed contract with the Hawks and come to training camp next month, according to a person familiar with the situation. He is expected to sign the contract Monday
...
The addition of Richardson gives the Hawks 17 players on the training-camp roster, including partially guaranteed contracts of Lamar Patterson and Terran Petteway. The Hawks open training camp Sept. 28.

What is J-Rich's upside and downside at this point in his career. 34 year old with nagging/re-occurring injuries. I need opinions from more well knowledged posters at what's his chances considering our openness towards that small forward spot.

JRich is a good signing for a contender. He will probably take the place of Elton Brand as the locker room vet for the Hawks, or how Jerry Stackhouse was for the Hawks a few years ago.
In a good system, JRich is a very good 3pt shooter. His defense was also very good when he was in Orlando, but at this point in his career im not sure, we will just have to wait and see.

Bingo! And the fact J-Rich couldn't even garner a guaranteed contract offer from any team in the league indicates his on court production is expected to be very limited.
Intangibles, leadership, situational, end of game FT shooting and 3-pt shooting...and that's IF he actually makes the team.
Though his presence does lead to concern for Mike Scott's future on our roster.

Completely understandable from his perspective.
Absolutely terrifying as a Hawks fan/exec.
This deserves its own thread.

Re: Atlanta Hawks 2015 Off-Season Thread
From Eric Pincus over at Basketball Insiders:
Thoughts? Concerns? Predictions?
I definitely foresee a regression from KK at this point. He's largely defied the laws of old-age thus far. And though shooting is the kind of precision-based skillset that can keep a guy like him in the league another 5-7 years, it will be difficult for him to repeat the kind of success he approached last year in pursuit of a 50/50/90 season.
Factor in his recovery from two surgeries this summer and, it's reasonable to expect at least a minor drop in speed, production, effectiveness.
HEREWhether it’s due to age, injury, role change or coaching shift, some players are primed for a decline this season. Each season some guys, while still productive, decline a bit. Here are some situations to watch as we approach training camp:
Kyle Korver, Shooting Guard, Atlanta Hawks
Not many guys become an All-Star after twelve seasons in the league. Korver, 34, has found new life in his three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks and became an All-Star in 2015. But you have to wonder when Father Time will come calling. The Hawks spent the summer strengthening their shooting guard position by acquiring Tim Hardaway Jr. from New York and signing veteran Jason Richardson in free agency, possibly in preparation for a potential decline from Korver

I expect less minutes for Kyle but I still think his shooting will be deadly.

Probably you will not understand ****, but here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEJ-XqZBEmY you will see how Eddy Tavares got to be what he is and what he is capable of doing.
By the end of the video (offered in a private Spanish TV that usually shows heart-touching sport stories) former trainers/friends explain that they hope Tavares will become a more dominant and selfish player in the future.
