He's been easily our best player this season. He currently leads our team in points, rebounds, minutes played, PER and...fittingly...salary.

Consistent, hard working, professional. He's all the things his predecessor wasn't and that Horford is supposed to be.

A few of his early season highlights are below:[tweet]https://twitter.com/ATLHawks/status/671091056352428032[/tweet]

Paul is making his case not only for an all star spot, but also for one of the all NBA teams as well.

Think Canada votes DeMarre in over him?

Kind of an obscure, random stat...but nice all the same.

Peachtree Hoops ponders if Millsap is worthy of a starting nod in the All Star Game.

...many will see this as a ridiculous premise and, given that the starters are chosen through fan voting, Millsap has no chance of actually cracking that lineup.

Given that the NBA has transitioned to a format that includes two backcourt and three frontcourt players, there are two "locks" for inclusion for the Eastern frontcourt. [Lebron James and Paul George]

It is perfectly reasonable to suggest that any of Drummond, Anthony or Bosh should be inserted as an All-Star starter ahead of Paul Millsap. As for Millsap, the profile speaks for itself. The talented power forward (23.13) trails only Drummond (23.67) in PER among the legitimate candidates, and Millsap trails only Bosh in Win Shares...Millsap’s profile compares quite favorably to all three of the competitors...

Millsap has been good enough to deserve a nod. But he's definitely not getting voted in. His only shot is being named starter by the coach or the NBA.

Likely Bosh gets voted in. And Drummond would be first option to be added in case of injury. Millsap should definitely get in as a Coach's Selection for the third straight year, though.

I hate the fan voting system.

Folks over at ESPN Insider also advocate a starting spot for Millsap:

Paul Millsap deserves All-Star start

Kevin Pelton endorses the Hawks power forward for a spot on the East's starting five next month in Toronto. It would be Millsap's first start following two selections as a reserve

Support beginning to build that PM be recognized on one of the ALL NBA Teams. Hope he gets it. It'd be well deserved.

Millsap makes Pelton's elite squads

Kevin Pelton is predicting the three All-NBA teams that will be named at season's end. He sees Paul Millsap, playing a key role in the Hawks' late surge, honored on the third team. All-NBA teams (Insider)

Looks like Zach Lowe certainly thinks that Paul Millsap deserves a place on the All NBA Defensive team. The first team!
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

1. Draymond Green
2. Kawhi Leonard
3. Paul Millsap

...

Choosing Millsap for the No. 3 spot will raise some eyebrows, especially in Miami, where Hassan Whiteside rejected everything in sight. People don't think of Millsap as an elite defender. They don't think of him much at all, really. Being a low-key dude in Utah and Atlanta will do that.

But he has developed into the keystone of the league's stingiest defense since Jan. 1 -- a jack-of-all-trades with the speed to extinguish pick-and-rolls 30 feet from the basket, glue-trap hands that rip more steals than almost any big man in league history, and the guts to initiate an airborne collision at the rim. Millsap is averaging 1.7 blocks per game, by far a career high, and he's the only rotation player in the league topping 1.7 blocks and 1.7 steals per night.

He gets those numbers without gambling, and he can guard any position in a pinch. He's a horse on the glass, always does his job in transition and plays hard on every damn possession.

A couple of Millsap's peers singing his praises:

Says Al Horford about his frontcourt partner, "It's fun. Paul makes the game easy for me, for my team. The more we've been able to play, the more comfortable I've been able to get with him." And ask Horford if he thinks Millsap should be 2nd team All-NBA, and he won't even let you finish the question.

"He should be. He should be, no question. The level that he's playing ... he's had an amazing year. He's been very consistent."

Sad to say...PM was overlooked. :(

A real shame. On a team with a higher profile/better record, I truly believe PM makes it easily to ALL NBA status with a season like this one.

the NBA announced its first, second and third All-NBA teams for the 2015-2016 season. To the surprise of few, the Atlanta Hawks were not represented within the 15 players recognized with inclusion. However, both Paul Millsap and Al Horford were honored in the voting, to the point where the duo represented the "first runner-up" at the forward and center positions, respectively.

Millsap received 84 voting points, finishing seventh overall among forwards and ahead of players like Anthony Davis. The six forwards landing ahead of Millsap were LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard (1st team), Kevin Durant and Draymond Green (2nd team) and Paul George and LaMarcus Aldridge (3rd team).

...more than a handful of voters thought it best to include the two Atlanta Hawks on their ballots and that should be noted. Stay tuned.
Here

Still, making the All Defense and All Star teams are great accomplishments in their own right.

Some folks are wanting front courters like the AS game, Millsap would make it. I figured it would come down to PG, Aldridge and Millsap.
