Just a place to discuss non-basketball related Hawks topics.

Spoiler:
The Atlanta Hawks’ DeAndre’ Bembry and Thabo Sefolosha were among the first NBA players to ever record using the Snapchat Spectacles on an NBA floor when they did so during pre-game warmups in two separate games last month.

In an effort “to do something special,” in Bembry’s words, the Hawks’ social media team asked them both to record themselves dunking and taking shots using the Spectacles for the club’s Instagram feed.

Sir Foster brings a heavy dose of hip-hop to Hawks games

Organist is a crowd pleaser in the ATL and beyond

...then there is Atlanta Hawks organist Sir Foster, who gets the crowd “turnt up” by playing trap music such as “Mask Off” by Future, “T-Shirt” by Migos, “Portland” by Drake and “Tunnel Vision” by Kodak Black.

Foster, bored with the normal organ music at sporting events, brought life to that world by playing hip-hop when the Hawks hired him in 2009.

“I don’t know what I would have done without this. I definitely owe a lot to the Hawks for taking a chance on me and allowing me to be myself.”

Any good press is welcome during these dark, troubling times.

Foster has typically received rave reviews from NBA fans who've caught Hawks home games on LeaguePass or their home team's broadcasts and has become a staple at the All Star Game.

I actually remember this well.

Back when I was convinced the Hawks were on the verge of a championship.

(Clearly I was delusional as a teenager.)

Paul Millsap Is Opting Out, and the Hawks Are Looking to Twitter for Answers

A study in when self-aware corporate social media becomes sad

Before the Millsap news broke Monday, the Hawks’ Twitter account, known for authoring some of the best tweets in the #content game, decided to tweet, in their maybe-too-self-aware persona, and poke fun at their hiring process.

...this whole “pick your own GM” tweet in the same vein as voting for a new concession item is slightly weird. Controlling your own message is very 2017 for athletes and teams alike, but this rise of proprietary media is now making its way into uncharted waters...

The news cycle and the structure of the NBA’s hierarchy have a lot in common: They are both ruthless and fleeting. Over the last few years, the Hawks have become the poster team for that harsh reality.

...The Hawks’ identity right now is their Twitter account. That should probably change soon.

I can go back to Pete Babcock without cheating.

Amazing to think we've had 7 GMs in the last 38 years.

But five of those have come in the last decade.

That's a huge indictment on previous ownership.

No love for the 2010's Hawks stars like Smoove, AL or Joe?

'Nique, Joe and Millsap would be hell in a three on three. All interchangeable.

Horford, Mutombo and Mookie Blaylock could be nasty, too. Lockdown defense and matchup nightmares.
