Yikes, 15 pages of a Rondo rumor on a HOU site from what seems to be a credible source. Looks like I'm committed to reading that beast as deadline craziness is upon us, but anyone have a short summary of the thread in the meantime?

Thread is not worth reading beyond what caveman already provided. If you want to read incessant ballwashing of Mr. Parsons, feel free to read it though. I think 95% of that board would refuse to trade parsons for rondo straight up, with most of them only willing to think about dealing Parsons for Love. :-?

I literally do a word search for "cyberx" on each page and try to scroll right by the rest lol.

Legit rumor: Houston Pursuing Rondo

Post#362 » by No35 » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:23 am

Comes from that godawful clutchfap forum, but that poster cyberx is someone confirmed as a rockets insider, as he broke the Dwight deal before everyone else.

I wonder what would come back in a potential deal. I'd REALLY want Terrence Jones from Houston.

I want Terrance and parsons and a shmorgasbord of picks. They can keep Dwight.

I doubt though this deal happens just based on what would need to be exchanged, doesn't make sense.

Trading for Rondo makes sense for Houston, but why the hell would we do it? Unless there is more going on behind the scenes with Rondo it makes zero sense. Our best player for maybe a 3rd option at best on a contender? They both have the same amount of years left on their contracts and both will be looking to get paid, my preference would be to pay Rondo every day of the week.

This doesn't have Danny's fingerprints on it IMO.

The one post in the thread (beyond the source) that I liked was the idea that Morey leaked this out to boost Rondo's value as a nod to ainge, perhaps for being such a twit with the asik deal. May explain the info relating to the Sacto deal being shared through the same source and consistent with Lowe's report.

I would trade Rondo every opportunity I got if it made us better, but all these ideas make the other team better and sets us back years. Nothing Ainge has ever said or done has suggested this was his method of rebuilding.

Wyc was on ESPN radio last week and mentioned the rebuild process and he specifically talked about how we built prior to the Big 3 era and how it worked. Young guys get minutes and play well, have additional assets, move any combination and get better. That is specifically on their mind. Now all of a sudden we are trading Rondo for a 2018 1st round draft pick?

Definitely agree with this. Seems much more likely to cash in all the picks and other potential sweeteners to add to Rondo/Sully rather than removing rondo from the equation and looking more like the mess of the 07 situation and hoping for a perfect storm to occur (heck, and even perfect-er storm given we'd have no PP equivalent given how early sully is in his career yet).

From another seemingly reputable fellah over there.

But IMHO Rondo right now would not be equal value for Asik in the number crunching minds of today's front offices. Why would he be? Rondo, coming off an injury, plays at a position that has more talent today than any position ever in the history of the NBA.

And a taste of the sheer idiocy.

Another gem:

Rondo's value right now is less than Asik's. Sorry.

Morons! Shoulda seen these guys during the Asik rumors. Went from thinking they were gonna get Melo to Rondo to Millsap to the reality that Boston ownership wouldn't even sign off on Bass/Lee/Clippers pick. Some stellar trade value right there.

I'm not even the biggest Rondo guy, but I'm pretty sure that anyone with a TV has seen him dominate like a dozen playoff games that had half a dozen HOFers on the floor. Yeah, but you got Lin and Beverly, you're good.

Rockets don't feel they can win a championship with this exact roster.
Celts are down for Bev as well.

Morey will do whatever to keep Parsons, but he knows how difficult it can be with the new CBA. Parsons will be pricey, believe it or not, there could be teams close to offering him the max.

Yeah, I feel like Rondo isn't going anywhere, but if he were, it would be in a 3-way similar to the one that crazy twitter dude posted earlier. A lot of teams don't have the assets, and a lot of others do but would be unlikely to part with them for a guy who might not resign with them. Whereas the Lakers have a top 10 pick in this upcoming draft, and not a lot of patience to develop anyone they take with it. Plus two guys that looooove Rondo in Kobe and D'Antoni, and possible cap room to chase Melo with. That rumor makes a *ton* of sense for all parties, even if I don't believe the guy who posted it.

Lin, Asik, Parsons, 2014 1st for Rondo, Green wouldnt be a terrible deal if we could find a taker for Lin and/or Asik who would give up a pick.

We're in the same boat. I feel like what comes always comes out is what the other team wants. What we want is a secret (like Brad Stevens was). If you noticed it, cyberx prefaced his info with "Morey is trying..."

Yeah, it just doesn't jive. I mean, theoretically you could build up a huge store of picks, strategically deal some of them for other stars, and then do a total rebuild, but practically that seems almost impossible. We're scrounging to find one f-ing star to pair with Rondo right now but somehow trading him for more picks is going to make it easier? We'd be down to ZERO stars and lots of losing in the meantime and I just don't see that as a viable alternative unless all other avenues of improvement are exhausted. The total rebuild is warranted in certain circumstances but we're not there yet....

Here's the latest update from cyber x:

I never said this is going to go down and happen.

LOL at trading Rondo for Parsons and then having to pay him the max to keep him.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

Rockets are willing to give up Parsons in this deal... Boston is getting giddy.

Sorry, but cyberx is legit. He broke the Asik and Dwight deals before they went official.

Yeh i just dont get this angle at all..

We get what, Lin, Asik and Parsons...

Our pick this year is basically the same, maybe gets worse.. we have to pay Parsons a ton soon in free agency, Lin and Asik both get huge raises next season... no one in the deal has the high end potential of what Rondo is at already... AND they dont have any valuable picks

Where exactly does this leave us?
Lin, Bradley (free agent), Parsons, Bass, Asik, Wallace, Olynyk, Sully, Pressey etc... sounds like an expensive way to fight for a bottom playoff seed and go no where

The thing about Parsons, which was previously mentioned here by a Rox fan but which I have not verified, is that by virtue of being a 2nd rounder, he has a pretty low cap number in 2015. Potentially allowing his team to have a lot of cap room prior to resigning him. The guy who mentioned it was against trading him for Rondo based on the idea that the Rockets would be able to sign a 3rd superstar before re-upping Parsons as well.

My retort that Rondo *was* that 3rd superstar fell on deaf eyes given that he thought they could land Love in addition to keeping Parsons, but it is at the least intriguing if true.

Would be hilarious if Parsons got traded since he basically had to suck Dwight off to get him to come to Houston.

But I imagine if Parsons is going out, other pieces are coming in besides Rondo.

lol. You're kidding, right? The Celtics aren't trading Rondo PLUS more for Chandler Parsons. Unless the deal involves Parsons, Terrence Jones and more, there is absolutely no chance of any other big pieces being involved from the Celtics' end.

Morey can inquire and beg all wants, no way does Danny take that crap Houston is offering for our best player.
