Celtics now assured of the two-seed in the East. Read somewhere that an East one-seed hasn't won a title since Heat did it in 2013.

Let's lose all our remaining games. Recent history says it's the right play.

EDIT: Nvm. Cavs won it in 2016 as the 1-seed. Go win all our remaining games!

The best thing about the C's record is that they are allowing the bench guys to get so much more playing time (as well as allowing the starters to get so much more rest). It's been amazing seeing how the bench guys are stepping up their games. Pritchard, Hauser, Kornett and Tillman in particular have really exploded over the past few weeks.
If these guys can go into the playoffs with this kind of confidence it will be so hard for any team to stop Boston. If the C's can have 4 or 5 guys that they can confidently rely on in any game (remember that Horford is also a "bench" guy), that is going to be the recipe for the next banner.
Hopefully Boston can go ahead and clinch the number 1 spot in the new few games, so they can keep giving these guys more floor time, especially against some of the better teams remaining on their schedule.

Excellent point.

Bucks lose tonight = clinch.
or
We win Mon night = clinch.

From here on, I care mainly about home court vs. Denver. Mile-high and all that.

Of course, home court vs. OKC would be good too. Besides, I don't see how the Cs could possibly lose out on the #1 overall seed now without there being a worrisome cause. So let's not have that.

Definitely want a series against the Nuggets starting in Boston. Denver -- recent Celtics fan infiltration aside -- has a good home court advantage, regardless of altitude. Add that they are the defending champs, and that's an uphill climb. Any other gym I'd feel good about the Celtics winning any given game -- but not a theoretical (and not-gonna-happen) game 1 in Denver.

OKC lost to the Rockets. If Suns win vs. the Nuggets, magic number down to 4 against the West top teams. Currently up 9 in the 2nd. Murray out.

DOABLE.

OKC, next 4 games: v. PHX, @NYK, @PHI, @BOS

New Magic Numbers IF we somehow **** get to the NBA Finals
Thunder 4
Wolves 4
Nuggets 3

5 of our remaining 9 games are VS good PO teams who have something to play for - Pelicans, Kings, Thunder, Bucks & Knicks!
The other 4 are Hornets twice, Blazers & Wizards - dregs of the NBA.
SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT, MOTHER ****!
Good test for our players & let’s see if our moron coach can call a TO when necessary or design a crunch time play.

If the Celtics beat the Thunder on Wednesday, they are the only team that will have a shot at 60 wins.

Lone 60-win teams this millennium:
PHX 2022
MIL 2019
HOU 2018
SAS 2014*
CLE 2010
BOS 2008*
PHX 2005
IND 2004
SAC 2002

Only 2 of the last 9 lone 60-win teams went on to win the title.

Let's go 1-7 in our last 8 games!

I think this list is missing a couple teams. See here: https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-60-win-teams-in-a-single-season

Only listed teams that won 60+ games while no other team won 60+ that season. Random criteria, I know. :P

Nuggets lost to the Wolves who lost to the Bulls. A win vs. OKC would be hitting two birds with one stone.
