Inside Source: Say Good Bye to Vin Baker, again

Post#1 » by Vin-Baker6 » Fri Jul 6, 2012 3:01 pm

Breaking: Ray Allen will come back to the Celtics. A source that I'm in contact with that is close to Danny tells me Ainge has got to Ray. They are discussing final details with the trade kicker/no clause. Ray as a competitor does not like the heat, but has respect for them understandably. Allen will receie a number close to the 2 year 12 million dollar deal reported. Details will come out later today. Ray wants to end his career with Boston. The beef with Rondo is way blown out of proportion. Take this anyway you want but this news will come out.

Just to be clear, the source is an inside Celtic executive. I'd post this on twitter but dont have am account.

If this is true, good job uncovering the info.

I never expected Ray to leave.

This will be reported later today. Guaranteed. Ray is coming back, bit I totally get it if I inflict a negative response. Ray is a Celtic.

as long as you're not simply going out on a limb and crossing your fingers that you're right, then we're all cool with you siting a "source".

From all the reports I've been hearing, the Celtics were offering the most, so it's not all that surprising.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not gonna put that much faith in this, but its fun to read and we'll have a concrete answer soon enough.

right. people I know from within the NBA circles have been saying Ainge was either keeping band together and pulling Spurs model of depth....or going BIG and acquiring Josh Smith.

This has been the news for months. Ainge pretty much had 2 options and decided his safest bet to remain successful and potentially win another banner was to keep core together and max out the complimentary pieces.

Just gotta hope it's enough to beat the Heat. as of right now it looks like Boston is the team to beat in the East.

Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Bass, KG, Terry, Ray, Green, Sully, Steamer?, Melo, JJJ, Moore, etc is just WAY TOO much firepower.

Unless, of course the refs fix it again

The main driving force for Ray is his son Walker. He lives the treatment Walker has received medically in Boston. He also does not think the Jason Terry signing was pushing him out the door, in fact he welcomes it.

This allows Boston to relax on Bradley. They can ease him back into the rotation and give him the proper amount of time he needs to get back to 100%.

With Rondo, Ray, Terry, Pierce, Green, Moore and maybe Pietrus...Ainge should not even bother with Bradley until January. Just keep him rehabbing and make sure he's healthy for the 2nd half.

Any word on who they want to sign to fill out the bench (Wilcox, Robin Lopez etc.)?

I really don't want to hate Ray Allen, but signing with Miami would be an unforgivable act of treason in my mind. I think even talking to the Heat is pretty disgraceful to be honest, but as long as he ends up back I can't fault him for doing his due diligence. His legacy is here, won a title here, his mom is here, kid is getting care here, the best offer financially is here, he is a UConn guy. It just wouldn't be right for him to go Johnny Damon on us for less money to back up Dwyane freaking Wade. So he spent the night in Miami. For Ray Allen, that is probably enough to make him want to get back on a plane and come to the northeast. I bet he spent the night in a hotel room by himself reading about astrophysics. The guy is a geek. Come back home, Ray! If he wants to go to Memphis and start I get it. Miami, that's horseshizz.

Wrong... Miami can't offer the same amount of money... It's all about the money.

I think he is talking about the Boston deal if Ray re-sign, not the Miami deal.

This is such an interesting situation Ray has gotten himself into. There's only one thing worse for him than if he stays here and the Heat beat us in the playoffs... If he goes to the Heat and the Celtics beat them in the playoffs.

Ultimately, we can offer him the most money, a bigger role, and a lot of people on here don't seem to believe in the loyalty factor but we are the team he has been with since 07-08 and won his first and only championship with. Until today when I saw the Heat as an option and the fact we signed JET, I figured he was gone. Now that he's met with the Heat already and didn't just sign a deal with them after the meeting, I don't see him leaving. Guess time will tell.
