Ray, you just blew an opportunity to win another one for boston and get your jersey hung up with legends. Wrong choice, man, wrong choice.

I know it is going to be rough seeing him in a Heat jersey but that doesn't take away what he has done for this team since he was traded here before the 2007-08 season. I wish him everything but a championship.

I have been allen's biggest supporter but if this is true it is TREASON. Heat are the biggest bunch of punks.

I appreciate the championship he brought in 2008, but what he did today is no excuse. He's worse than Mark Blount, IMO.

A splendid summer just got even better for the Heat.

Ray Allen, the NBA’s all-time leader in three-point baskets, is leaving Boston to join the NBA champion, according to a tweet from Heat owner Micky Arison.

“It's 2:30 a.m. in London and I was just woken up with great news. Welcome to the family - No. 20,” Arison tweeted Friday night.

Allen rejected a larger financial offer from the Celtics to accept a multiyear deal from the Heat -- a move that bolsters Miami’s bench and weakens one of its chief Eastern Conference rivals.

Allen, a 10-time All-Star, turns 37 on July 20, but shows no sign of diminished skills. He set a career mark by making 44 percent of his three-point attempts two years ago, then topped that by shooting 45 percent on threes this season, which ranked fourth in the league.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade lobbied Allen to join the Heat in recent days, and president Pat Riley made a convincing sales pitch in a Thursday meeting with Allen in Miami.

Allen believes the capital he's built up playing for UConn and the Celtics would supercede signing with Miami. He's probably misjudged that.
