Celtics-Nets Trade Complete (added DJ White)

Post#1 » by Parliament10 » Mon Jul 8, 2013 11:27 pm

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/ ... il-july-12
The Nets' inclusion of April signee Kris Joseph in the trade means that Brooklyn and Boston have to wait until July 12, as opposed to July 10, because Joseph can't be traded until after three months have elapsed from the day he signed with the Nets as a free agent.

Danny's talking about us not being over the cap, as repeat offenders. And this being a "rebuilding" year (not necessarily a tanking year). I think that we can't take on Humphries' and probably not Wallace's salaries. Beyond them being not worth it. After that Bass, Lee & Bogans can't stay on a rebuilding team.
It's looking a lot like -- we need a 3rd team to enter this Trade.

potential FA signings: nolan smith, tony mitchell, phil pressey, greg stiemsma

waiver wire guys: shavlik randolph, dj white, kris joseph

rondo/smith/pressey
bradley/lee/brooks/crawford
green/wallace/bogans/mitchell,joseph
sully/olynyk/bass
stiemer/hump/melo/iverson/randolph

those 20 are roughly 74 million, we need to shed around 3M.

one of lee or bass is enough.

smith or pressey for the backup PG spot

mitchell or joseph for the final forward spot

stiemsma or randolph, not both.

that would be 17, must dump crawford, and trade one or both of bass and lee, could use KG exception if we dumped both and stay under 71,6 mil.

Great analysis. God, I hope we don't keep Humphries. He's gotta be gone (trade bait, etc) with his skillset, which is not worth 12MIl.

Why in the world is Bogans getting 3 years?! & Also, I just don't see the need to sign new guys? Roll out the season

Rondo-Crawford
Bradley-Lee-Brooks-Bogans
Green-Wallace-Joseph
Sully-Bass-Randolph
Hump-Olynyk-Melo

DEF move bass. Doubt we can find a taker for Lee. Doubt any takers for Wallace. Depending on Bogans deal, move him too lol.

Go into the summer like
Rondo - ??
Bradley-Lee
Green-Wallace
Sully-Olynyk
?? - ?? - Melo -- A decent of money for a FA, a good draft pick. S&T Bradley for a stud big man leaving in FA, draft a guard with our top6 pick. Fill out the bench with whatever is left. Bing bang boom done, relevance once again.

IMO...I think that Humphries will be worth more come the trade deadline. Am I the only one who thinks this? If he gets 30 minutes per game he's probably going to grab about 8-10 rebounds per game. He's one year removed from a 14-11 season.

Come the deadline some playoff bound team might just be willing to part with something valuable to add a rebounding big like Hump.

Am I missing something because this guy is getting crapped on here. What do people expect to move him for right now?

Bogans is a phony 3 year contract. Only year one matters. Keep Wallace until the deadline.

PG: Behind Rondo, who ought be allowed to rehab/return at as leisurely a pace as possible (in order to properly "rebuild" rather than "tank" because we are, after all, the Celtics, a proud franchise that would NEVER tank and neither M.L. Carr nor Ricky Pitino are walking through that door, thank God), there will be two of the following four: Pressey, Smith, D J-O, T-Will. I think T-Will has a shot to rejoin the team (assuming his legal issues turn out to be truly a case of "he said. she said") because he makes a good back court running mate for Bradley (Bradley can D up the opposing PG while T-Will takes the SG).

SG: Keep Brooks and Bradley. Lee should get a chance to start at the beginning of the season to increase his trade value and allow Brooks to develop but then get dealt after next year if not at the trade deadline. Brooks could be a legit SG if he learns how to play D. Crawfish needs to go unless he proves he's got something in his personality make-up I haven't seen yet, something I don't expect to happen.

SF: Keep Green, Joseph, Mitchell and sign Datome. Wallace and Bogans need to go ASAP.

Bigs: Keep Olynyk, Sully, Melo, Iverson, Randolph. Humphries and Bass need to go ASAP.

That's 14, with Lee holding the 15th spot for the time being.

Agreed. No need to dump the vets we have right now unless a trade is a win. This team doesn't need Stiemsma, Randolph, Joseph or Nolan Smith. That saves the 3M right there. Even Tony Mitchell and Pressey are unnecessary if the roster/salary is an issue.

sign Iverson, N. Smith, and Pressey from summer league team.

pg- Rondo, Smith, Pressey
sg- Bradley, Lee, Brooks, Crawford, Bogans
sf- Green, Walace, Joseph
pf- Humphries, Sullinger, Bass
c- Olynyk, Melo, Iverson, Randolph

thats 18 in training camp. 3 of Crawford, Bogans, Joseph, Walace, Humphries, Randolph would have to go. Randolph, Joseph and Crawford have the least cost and can be cut the easiest. Walace SHOULD be traded at deadline. Unless we can get something of value for the expirings of Hump or Bogans, let them expire.

I voted for everyone except Hump and Joseph. Kind of surprised Brooks is leading the poll, given his salary that should be Crash's title. Zero chance he's not on this roster at the start of the season.

Why on earth would DA have wanted Joseph in the trade if it wasn't for the purpose of seeing whether he could be a complementary piece on this team?

Hump and Wallace will be on the team. Joseph will be cut or trade fodder. We have to get rid of bass. He and hump are similar and I like humps.contract. we should package bass and brooks for a center. Wallace is going to be a good player for us. I hope we don't get too mad at that.

Ainge is going to move so many players between now and the opening game that these kinds of topics are just useless. Ainge has no clue so how do RealGM posters going to know?

Sounds like Pressey will at least be getting an invite to camp after multiple media reports today.. plus, we have no back up point guard still so it makes sense

Shav has also been turning up to SL practices and is under the assumption he will be back next season...

Iverson seems like the kind of big body we need at the 5 for spot minutes..

I think Bass has to go, he has some value on the trade market and there is simply too much depth at the 4, we have young guys who can play the same role and better to move him now than to possibly try later when he's getting less minutes and putting up lower #'s... I'd also move Bogans immediately, it's essentially an expiring contract.

Crawford has no real place now with Brooks, package him with Bogans or Bass... juse get a TPE, a deal you can buy out and maybe a cheap vet pg as Rondo insurance..

Let Joseph and Tony Mitchell battle it out in camp

Sully/Melo/Iverson
Olynyk/Hump/Randolph
Green/Wallace/Joseph or Mitchell
Bradley/Lee/Brooks
Rondo/Trade PG/Pressey

Would be my best guess

I am torn on this I would just assume we swap him for Ben Gordon who fills this team needs much better and likely would have more upside at the deadline as a high scoring if high volume shooter. Much like Humphries the game is the game but Gordon's game is better.

That said everyone always needs a big he just seems to be such a loser.
