I don't remember talking about this stuff before Lebron bitched out and opted to take the path of least resistance. Guy's a trendsetter in the worst way.

I don't know if players ever actually HAD that much competitiveness, or if the rules and team strategies for free agency were just more limiting, but I'm nostalgic for those days too, and the impression of competitiveness. Players seemed to have ego, they looked for situations where they could have more money, bigger responsibility, etc. Kobe wanted Shaq gone so he could come out from under his shadow, that sort of thing. Now everyone wants to team up and make life easier for themselves. It's understandable- would you rather play with Lebron James and Kyrie Irving or Ricky Rubio and Corey Brewer? Wouldn't you rather play with Irving, Waiters and Love, if you're Lebron? It's just a little bit shameless. Unfortunately I think our title team played a big part in this- three guys who struggled tremendously bearing the burden of being a 'franchise player' (a term no one uses anymore) suddenly got together and had huge success. They also proved that a top heavy team (3 all stars) can be successful even if it's only 7-8 deep.

Terry deal is official.

I'm heading out into the woods for 6-7 days tomorrow - I just know I'm going to miss all the action.

... Oh, who am I kidding. When I get back to civilization we'll still have the exact same roster we do now.

Man, I hope Steez finds his way back to the NBA. He had his moments with the Celtics last season.

There's no friggin way Jordan Crawford isn't an NBA talent. I'm really surprised nobody would give him a shot. Dude is 10x better than Mario Chalmers for example.

Gotta wonder how things would've panned out for him, free agency wise, if he hadn't been traded. Under Stevens he seemed to be changing his perception around the league and showcasing how dynamic his game really is, under Mark Jackson he seemed like kind of a failed 6th man experiment... that was my impression at least, only saw ~2 non playoff GSW games while he was there.

Looks like Flip still wants to dramatically overpay a guard, after being bailed out of his bizarre Klay obsession by Lebron.

100% agree. I'd say he's only about 5x better than Chalmers though.

Also, when did his nickname become "Steez" did I miss something?

WTH is going on. Jordan Crawford and Blatche will be playing in China. Both could be starter in the league and better than a lot of those sitting on the bench.

Both probably haven't been offered as much as they have in China and some NBA team can still pick them up in March when CBA league ends.

People are always stuck in the past it seems. The way I saw it he had no problems with that when he was here with Stevens. Dude ran the offense better than every single PG we have had on this team in the last 5 years. (not counting Rondo obviously.) Every single NBA player launches a heat check here and there. Phil Pressey is here and he takes some of the most terrible shots I have ever seen. Steez is far from Nick Young, Nate Robinson status and those guys are still around. The best thing about Jordan is that he actually seemed like a good kid. Dude used to sit in the stands with Tommy before games taking advice. Played his butt off on both sides of the court. IMO, Steez problem was coaching more than anything. It's obvious that he was one player with Washington and Doc but completely transformed into something better with Brad. When coaches label these young players as 'spark plugs' off the bench, it's hard to complain about them when they come in and try to force the issue. It's what they are asked to do.

Can you really call it a heat check if there isn't a heat signature yet? He'd chuck up a deep unwarranted 3 even when he was 0-1. Don't get me wrong, he was solid setting up the offense, but that's something inconsistent that coaches wouldn't want to see from a backup PG.

Fair enough. He takes bad shots. But I've seen worse.

I thought he was pretty consistent here. Kept his chucking in check, played team ball. I have no complaints. If other teams couldn't get what we got out of him I'd say they are the problem and not Steez.

Yeah his shot selection isn't great but ultimately it comes down to him just not being a great outside shooter.

He's a solid ballhandler, surprisingly decent passer, and can get to the rim a bit. But he's not physically better than other players (you could see him wear down having to be the primary scorer IMO), and isn't a plus defender. So if he could actually shoot better rather than just take better shots, I think that's the thing that is the biggest gain for him but who knows how much he's got in the tank there.

I'd take him back if they needed a cheap role player but it's just not really a fit now.

Our best player last year couldn't sign with an NBA team so he's now playing in China...

Oof.

Eugh.

That's a gut-punch statement.

Gustavo Ayon headed to Europe. He was one of the guys the Spurs were looking at as depth up front, along with Beasley.

Still think that's a nice spot for B. Bass to land if a trade happens.
