Started listening to her catalog and girl is sick.

Sounds like someone Truth may listen to...

Listening to it on apple music now, it's good.. It comes really really close to turning a cheesy song (that I like) into a deep one..

An immense yet fairly unknown (in America) singer-songwriter with a unique voice and sharp lyrics is Thea Gilmore. Her recent music is too overproduced in my opinion, but her earlier material is for the most part first rate. Here's a favourite of mine, "Razor Valentine".

Cannot hear Gemma well in that clip. But if she was 15 years older, I would let her sleep with me.

She's 38. Her age is perfect!

First episode of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert was great. MAVIS covering Sly. Buddy Guy laying down licks. Brittney Howard on backup vocals. God damn.

Yeah, also wasn't digging that Travis Scott at all KGBoss, but idk, just not a fan of his style of flow I guess.

Saw "Trainwreck". Very good movie. However, nowhere near as funny as some made it to be. And I had 3 glasses of wine during it. Normally that'll raise the comedy meter.

"Public Morals" is a good show with Ed Burns and Michael Rapaport (oddly enough I was watching "Higher Learning" last night...what a movie). Definitely worth checking out.

Power reading "Black Mass" before it comes out next week. Movie never lives up to the book. So, I'd rather read the book first.

One last thing. Trailer for a new movie "Demolition" with Jake G was great. Flick looks amazing. However, best part of the trailer was that it contained one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists. "Heartaches and Pain" by Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band. Haven't heard the track or of the artist, I rec checking out.

Higher Learning, haha, that movie is pretty funny now years later. Rappaport's most unintentionally humorous role.

And god damn, Swanson was a fox in that movie.

Ha. No doubt. Remy. What a spaz. Lmao. One of Fishbourne's best roles though. That's before Tyra Banks head doubled in size as well. She was a smoke show in that movie. Best thing to come out of it was "Ask of You" by Sadique. What an incredible song back in the day.

So this is "art" in a very broad sense, but anyone try the new 2K? Plays tight, need to work to score so far, actually run plays.. They changed up some of the controls, buttons for pick and rolls, will take some getting used to.

Movie-wise I'm watching an old silent film called 'Epic of Everest', from 1924, it's a sort of documentary about an expedition to climb the mountain..

Not a gamer at all. Miss those days. Based on some recent posts, I'm sure Truth will be one of your guys. With that said, getting ready to go all in on a PS4/Disney Infinity system for my daughter. Getting sooooooo old. Lol

Let me know about the doc. I'm trying to get to "Everest" in IMAX with Jason Clark and Jake G, but haven't been able to.

For those interested, "Black Mass" was awesome. Not "Goodfellas", "Bronx Tale", "Casino" level. However, certainly on par with "Donnie Brasco", "Carlito's Way" and some of the other second tier gangster movies.

As for tv, if anyone has a chance, check out the two hour series premiere of "Scream Queens". Show is funny as a bastard. Love FTWD. Enjoy it much more than TWD. Odd thing is, there's hardly any walkers. Lol. Lastly, haven't started watching "The Bastard Executioner", but looking forward to catching up on the two episodes.

Rick and Morty with a bounceback week. Really wasn't feeling that Interdimensional Cable sequel, felt lazy to me.

But a murderspree set to Tony Toni Tone? Definitely more my speed.

I feel you 15th. Last week's episode seemed like filler. But this season overall has been ace. Last night's ep was hilarious though.

Popeapalooza Philadelphia was fun. I'm agnostic but this Pope is pretty chill in comparison to the last few. Never actually caught a glimpse of him but I was right next to the church during the first mass. Was a cool experience though. The entire city shut down. My area was just empty other than military checkpoints. Lots of hot Catholic women all around the city. Back to normal today.

As I have stated many times in this thread, I'm not a movie guy, I much prefer a book, videogame or TV show. Haven't been to a movie theatre in about a year. Can one of you guys recommend a good movie to take my date to on Thursday? I really, really like this girl and don't want to make a poor choice.

Last episode did feel like filler, but Werner Herzog's monologue was enough to make up for it..

Hey Truth. Best date movie in theaters in some time is "Me, Earl and the Dying Girl". Not sure if you can still find it in theaters, but it's really fantastic. "Black Mass" and "Everest" were both fantastic. Although, may not be good date fare. "The Martian" and "Sicario" both come out this weekend and are considered front runners for this years Oscars. "The Martian" would be the better date movie. Again, depends on her preferences.

By the way. I love a good book and a TV show as well. Just have a Sunday morning matinee routine. 9:00am movie while wife is sleeping. Home before lunch. Once a week. It's perfect. :D

Right now I'm reading the Bible. Not going to get all religious on a forum, but just trying to find something new in my life I guess.

In a couple years, when the Celtics are contenders again, you won't feel the need to resort to the Bible :)

A few weeks ago I saw "Holy Motors" by Leos Carax. The only other movie I had seen by him was "Mauvais Sang" in 1986, the first time I saw Juliette Binoche (who stole that movie even if she barely said a word -- she was incredibly hot 30 years ago). So even if I knew in advance that this wasn't going to be a mainstream affair, I was still surprised. I recommend it, but only if you like seeing a strange movie every once in a while.

I also watched "Oldboy" this weekend. Really liked it! Thank you to whoever recommended it on this thread (I think it was Pacino). The only thing I didn't like about the movie is that before reaching the mid-point I already knew what the twist was going to be. I suppose the twist was somewhat inspired by the movie hidden behind the spoiler button below.

Spoiler:
Angel Heart

I didn't, however, like "Jacob's Ladder". Once again, I anticipated the twist about 30 minutes into the movie. But I absolutely LOVED that scene near the end in which the guy was being carried on a stretcher through those crazy hallways with scattered limbs on the floor :)

Last night I saw "Clouds of Sils Maria", with Juliette Binoche (just a coincidence). The movie is slow paced, with lots of dialogue and questions about what it means to be a middle-aged person and seeing the next generation replacing you and almost pushing you to the side of the road. If you like that kind of stuff then the movie is OK. Kristen Stewart co-stars, and she delivers what could possibly be her best acting performance ever... which is not saying much because she still sucked.

I also saw "Under the Influence", the documentary about Keith Richards. It's kinda well done, but you can't help but feel that it's a 90-minute commercial to sell his new record. If you don't watch it you won't miss much, even if you're a hardcore Stones' fan.

Finally, back to a comment I made on this thread a little while back... Veruca Salt's "Ghost Notes" is the most fun album I've heard in a long, long time. Yeah, the lyrics can be limited at times, but boy, I can't stop listening to this thing at high volumes. These girls rock HARD. "Love You Less" and "Come Clean Dark Thing" are my favourite tunes of the CD.

Lol @ the bible comment. Haha.

Glad you enjoyed "Oldboy". It's a gem. "Angel Heart" is one of my favorites as well. Somewhere in this thread I've mentioned it in the past. Early Rourke...man...those were the days.

Too bad about "Jacob's Ladder". I haven't seen it in years. Maybe it doesn't hold up well. I just know that the visuals blew me away way more than the twist. Those visuals may not have stood the test of the last 20 years.

Haven't seen "Clouds do Sils Maria" but I've heard very good things. Although, it never has tempted me to seek it out. Maybe I'll check it out.

Pacino: I love the Bible, Quran, and other religous texts. Many of them are just straight up poetry (and high quality verse at that). Let me know your thoughts. I much prefer the Old Testament (repetition and all), but the New Testament has a few cool parts as well. Just feel like the writing gets worse as it goes on overall.

Saw Roger Waters The Wall last night. It is a concert/documentary. Really good. Saw 3 of the live shows. Unbelievable performance.
