Harris would be very tradeable if Durant came into the fold somehow, that shouldn't be considered at all. It's like the people saying Love wouldn't want to play with Olynyk, yeah we could just ship Olynyk's ass out if that was case.

How would Harris be very tradeable if he doesn't live up to his contract and is considered overpaid a la Gerald Wallace the past couple years? You act as if there is no risk.

The key is to be ready for it and not tie yourself up in 3-5 year max contracts with players like Tobias or 29 year old Millsap. Sure the salary may not be a true "max" once the cap goes up, but you still have a guy that signed a max contract expecting to start on your team. Say someone like Durant were to become available...our SF spot is already filled. Its just one more reason for him to say no.

Your rationale is flawed for a number of reasons.

1. Is durant really coming to boston?
2. What do you mean come available? Via trade or a S&T? Becuase in that case having Tobias on a Max contract would be extremely beneficial
3. Is anyone suggesting Tobias plays over KD?

1. Its an example
2. Trade, S&T, opt out and chooses FA. It's not 2k...you cant just easily trade away the players you bring in a year into their contract all the time. I guess you can, but it never happens like that.
3. I dont even know what you're saying here

If you were fortunate enough to be in a position to get KD through a trade or a S&T you'd be foolish to not see the benefits of having a player like Harris to send back

what I was saying in #3 was that no one is suggesting you play Harris over KD were he to become available. You FIGURE it out

No no...the only way you get someone like KD is being fortunate enough to have him choose your team through FA

And I wasn't suggesting that anyone would want to play Tobias over KD at all (obviously..dont even know why I have to say this). I'm saying if the SF spot is already filled with a guy whos expecting to start here, its one more reason for Durant to look elsewhere as he probably doesn't want a log jam/would prefer a destination tailor made for him to be plug right into SF spot.

As Banners said...what if Tobias isnt easily tradeable a year into his 3-5 year deal? Should we surrender more assets just for the sake of getting him off of the team when we could have dodged that in the first place? Its the same idea as people suggesting we just make the playoffs and trade assets to move up on the draft board, rather than bow out of the playoffs and just get a better pick in the first place

If we had Butler in the fold then maybe we can get Jordan, Aldridge or some other tier A free agent to give us a puncher's chance.

3 picks AND Smart? And you want to fire Ainge...that's a Billy King deal.

Probably worth mentioning that Marcus and Tobey were teammates on the USA Select team. The timing's still interesting though.

Appreciate your insight into Harris. Please don't mind the (hopefully) unintentional self-trollers on our board.

Twitter, the age of following someone because you have too much time on your hands. Taking pictures of what you had for lunch or dinner and posting it and then checking back to see how many people liked it. This is what it's come to.

Harris following Smart doesn't mean anything. Just like Love having dinner with Rondo didn't last year didn't mean anything. People getting their hopes up for meaningless **** and they getting disappointed and blaming Ainge.

You're gonna use Gerald **** Wallace as an example? Comparing a 22 year old who has gotten better every year to 30 year old that was clearly on the decline, not to mention completely reliant on athleticism is absolutely asinine.

What's age have to do with it? If a GM feels a guy is overpaid and not worth his contract then he ain't trading for him.......period. Doesn't matter if he's 22, 32 or 42. You think if Harris signs a MAX deal and turns out to be an overpaid fraud in Boston that he'll have strong trade value lol? Please.

I think what he's saying is that a 22 year-old player who's improved in recent years is much less likely to decline than an aging Gerald Wallace, in whose back the fork was already visible before he even got to the Nets.

Apparently Afflalo is getting a 3 year 36-38 mil offer from the Knicks, its gonna be full max for Harris or bust based on that.

I think Harris is the most likely of the max (or potential max) guys that we sign. Unfortunately, he's probably at the bottom of that list as far as talent goes, making it questionable if he's even worth it. Hopefully he would continue to improve. He has age on his side, at least.
