Celtics essentially replaced Bass and Green (ball-stoppers extraordinaire) with David Lee and Amir who can both pass from the low/high post or on the roll. What we need is more accuracy from long range, at least become an average 3-point shooting team to help create more space.
Olynyk, Sully, Turner, Smart, IT are all decent to good passers from what we've seen so far. So we might just have improved even more from a ball movement standpoint with the addition of Amir, Lee, and also Hunter (jury's still out on Rozier).
You be right. Simply removing Bass and Green will orient this team more towards layups and 3s and better ball movement. Brad's spinning it as emphasis when it's really some addition by subtraction going on.
We need a couple 40% spotup 3 point shooters (on heavy volume) to emerge amongst Crowder, Bradley, Jerebko, KO, Sully, Hunter, Young, and maybe even Smart. I hesitate to include Smart because I think he's going to be asked to make more plays with the ball this season and that means more off-dribble 3s and he's really inconsistent at those right now. He might be the best spot up 3 point shooter we have but I don't think that's going to be his role this year.
