Hunter should have the edge with ET dominating the ball for the 2nd unit.

my whole thing with Hunter/Rozier/Young/Mickey is when will they ever play? Not just this season. We have a gazillions picks and youngish players on the roster. Factor in free agency and it's literally impossible for these guys to have a consistent role on this team....like ever...unless Danny makes a trade of course

Yeah but even then, the other NBA teams aren't exactly playing with half filled rosters.

Who wants a large assortment of "meh" players? We couldn't even trade the picks on draft night when we should be able to.

Honestly just for roster congestion Our best bet might be to hope we can throw some first rounders at SAC for Cousins when the trade deadline rolls around. We simply can't play these many first rounders.

Or they're doomed to follow the James Young story of playing in the D league then hitting free agency, never contributing to the team in any form whatsoever.

So that said, yes if Smart and Tuner are out for awhile, at least it will give Hunter and Rozier some playing time to develop and show what they got.

I don't think he's fragile. He plays extremely hard, and has experienced some bad luck. Same thing happened with Avery. the NBA is an adjustment for these guys in more ways then just playing basketball. his body will get more used to the rigors of an 82 game season

Yeah agree on the Avery ppoint. Avery was injury plagued when he first got into the league but his body has adjusted over the past couple seasons..

Fragile is an apt description at this point. He will learn how to be smarter with his body, injuries are a great teacher. Doesn't mean he's going to stop getting hurt though. It's not like the majority of these injuries were a result of him trying to run through a wall.

Wouldn't go as far as calling him injury prone yet. Before that summer league game, he only really had a sprained ankle with 3 years of post-high school play. Will maybe get concerned if something else happens between now and April, but it's getting blown out of proportion a bit.

As good as he's been on defense, he's been worse than even Rondo or Tony Allen on offense. Kendrick Perkins esque on offense.

Bradley and Turner are giving us way more and will gladly take his minutes. Maybe Hunter and Rozier can step up and get their first rhythm in the NBA.

no in depth analysis here, but it sure seems like we really miss Smart. He makes a huge difference to this team.

I doubt we see Smart becaue before new years day. This injury looks a little more serious than they claimed.

He may be a very aggressive player and a bull, but I think he is a bit too injury prone to be a long time great player It always looks like he is about to turn the corner, but never does.

Your concerns have a lot of merit. This team seems to be constructed to have a regular 9- or 10-man rotation, but even so that leaves a lot of guys not getting minutes. Thomas/Bradley/Smart/Turner seems to be a strong rotation at guard, where by "strong" I mean "the better part of a team whose record is average to above average overall, and hence presumably above average in the league". Or add in Crowder and just call that the "smalls" or "perimeter guys". You can add in 1 guy to that, who gets minutes any time one of the many ahead of him gets a hangnail; that's looking like Hunter.

Similarly, it's basically headed for 4 bigs. Right now nobody has proven himself to the extent that some of the guards have, so that area is -- figuratively but alas not so much literally -- up in the air.

I think the trade market will start to take some shape over the next month or so, at which point Danny should be able to make a smallish to medium sized deal or two. It almost needs to happen.

My guess: earliest is on Dec 27, home game vs. Knicks. More likely he'll come back sometime in January.

Does this officially make Smart injury prone?

Marcus will have to be a bench player when he comes back right? I mean IT and AB are playing too well to bench either one. Maybe coming off the bench will encourage Marcus to look for his own offense more.

Yea. The silence has KG/2009 written all over it. "Strain - couple weeks." Getting a little worried.
