Re: Brooklyn Nets 2016 offseason/free agency Tracker Thread
Not sure if Philly will be better than them. That's a pretty big leap.
Simmons looks like he has a lot of potential, but as a 6'10" Rondo as a rookie... seems like he's a year or two away.
Until Philly makes a trade for a backcourt player I have to assume the Nets will be better than them. What little talent the Nets have at least they can play unlike Philly who has 3 of their 5 best players buried on their bench.

Gotta say, if mediocrity is the pinnacle, Marks is killing it.

Yah, besides I'm pretty convinced Philly is going full tank again.

Hell yeah. He's going to be top 3 SG in this league very soon.

I love that this is a thread lmao. They had a good draft. Thankfully they haven't done much in FA and look to be in position to have at least bottom three record. It's why Danny would be shortsighted to part with the pick unless he got not only a star but long term commitment.

They're so far beneath mediocre that they probably can't even see it.
Cave was right: few teams, ever, have been this screwed. I was looking at the summer league box scores, picking out the bad teams from last year first so I could check up on their rookies. And I actually had the thought "wait, who was the Nets draft pick this year?" then lol'd because I realized I could do the same thing next year, and the next as well.
It's historic, it really is.

Scola / Lopez frontcourt is awesome for the Celtics. It will be layup line all game. 20 wins max for this team.
Handsome.

We had better not lose a game to them this season.

He doesn't have much of a hand to play. The Lin and Booker deals were pretty solid. I think with Crabbe and Johnson, he hoped one wouldn't get matched and they'd have a chance at a young guy who could break out in a bigger role.
The Scola deal is a bit odd when they could've taken a chance instead on a younger guy like Sully or Terrence Jones, but he's a heady player who will probably be a good fit in that Spurs/Bud offense that Atkinson is likely to implement.
With no picks and top FAs uninterested in playing for that team, the best they can hope for is to just sign some interesting pieces who could later get flipped for picks / prospects. I could see Scola getting dealt at the deadline to a team in need of spacing for a 2nd rounder, which doesn't sound sexy but would be a good move long-term for the Nets. They already have a bunch of young unproven guys in RHJ, Kilpatrick, Whitehead, McCullough, and LeVert. How good those guys are remains to be seen, but having Scola on the roster isn't going to prevent them from evaluating those youngsters.

I understand exactly what Mark's is doing but like you said missed an opportunity to get a guy like Sully or even Jones that have some nice upside and better trade value than a worthless dime a dozen Scola. Ezeli considering what he got was a missed opportunity, if you believe Lopez is history.

It may be he reached out to those guys but they don't have an interest in going to BKN. Ezeli especially may have preferred to stay on the west coast and with a surefire playoff team. Money talks ultimately so I guess they could've backed up a truck, but would that have been a good move then?

Re: Brooklyn Nets 2016 offseason/free agency Tracker Thread
Scola and Vasquez added to Lopez and Bogdanovich.
This is going to be a very slow team when any 2 of those guys are on the court together. All 4 at the same time would be insane.
Lin/Kilpatrick/RHJ/Booker/Bropez. That's probably their best 5 man group. Crappy spacing for Lin/Lopez so the offense would struggle, but at least that group could compete defensively.
But a Vasquez/Bogey/Scola bench - that will be fun. Couldn't really ask for a slower trifecta.

That's exactly how I read the comment from Sully's agent. He apparently turned down someone offering over $10m for this year in order to go to a better situation for his future contracts. Guessing it was the Nets.

If the Celtics and Nets miss the playoffs next season they can still get a good pick next season. A top 3 pick is not impossible.

Amen to that. It really felt like they played more under pressure against the Nets than they did against the Warriors. One or two losses could make all the difference in what is believed to be a great draft. 2-2 against them won't cut itFroob wrote:DK-All Day wrote:Scola / Lopez frontcourt is awesome for the Celtics. I don't want to wake the Injury Gods, but we're missing the playoffs next season?
