Could have swapped Jackson for Porzingis, the cancelled meetings would be closer.

The dude is a turd. They waited till Ainge and Stevens got to Sacramento to cancel the work out. No wonder why Ainge changed his mind.

That says it all for me about his ceiling in the NBA.
Think we'll look back on this draft with regret eventually.
except dick vitale, who has forgotten more about college hoops than chad ford knows.
Really? Doesn't seem that way.
He said the Sixers were winners, not us...

honestly weak argument.
and btw paul pierce said tatum is the best kid in the draft with fultz.
And countless other players said Fultz was. Honestly your arguement was very weak.

To everyone saying Tatum won't be a star and has a low ceiling. I will remind you that last year we heard how Brown was years away from being ready and how it was the biggest reach in the first round. Th suddenly midway through the season it changed to "Oh, he was always going to be more NBA ready compared to Ingram. He still doesn't have the same ceiling". People chop and change their opinions all the time. When Tatum looks composed and is putting the ball in the hoop right away then suddenly people will start raving about him probably while questioning if others can improve.

I have little doubt. LA has their young stud. Was never sold on Russell,Randle or Ingram, but Lonzo will be special.

We also dodged a bullet by not drafting likely major bust Markelle Fultz:Spoiler:
All in all, I'd say it was an OK draft. It could've gone better but we picked up some good pieces tonight.

Wow Josh Jackson might already be up there as my least favorite player. What a dick cancelling a workout while Ainge, Stevens, and Zarren flew to Sacramento just to see you workout. I feel like the Celtics even had legit interest in him. Rooting for this punk to fail hard.
Yeah, Jackson is a punk. F him.
Also, as I've suspected after MIN got Butler for cheap, other teams are asking for the moon when dealing with DA. F them as well.

I'm not wrong. He's done nothing yet in the NBA and for him to become a superstar in the NBA and ranked in the top 20 players in the league he's got to out do his projections by a long way.
That's the reality of the situation.

Seriously, after Danny said JJ was the one who didn't want to play for the C's, he goes and talks smack like this?
I'm glad we passed on this ahole. I hope karma bites him hard in the ass.

Well in this draft you can't really say the Celtics are when they had the #1 and traded down. They might be big winners next year or more of the same. Fultz is going to sting for a long time.

-not wanting to part with assets and losing Butler
No reason to if we are signing Hayward

We need scoring more than Defense, Tatum is better here
-not taking Fultz
We have IT, Smart, and Rozier...
-trying to scramble for a PG-13 rental
Our GM did his job an inquired. We didnt pay anything to investigate
-not landing anyone to help lure free agents
We landed Horford last year with the SAME team. Haven't we already "landed"
-picking a SF when we drafted one last year and are targeting one in free agency
We picked a "big Small Forward", Tatum, Brown and even Hayward can all play together.
Is the general board finally right??
The GENERAL BOARD IS NEVER RIGHT.

Lot of negative nellies in here. I like things. I like where we're at and where we're going.
And can anyone tell me if we signed Theis why would we then also sign Hayward? Anybody explain the logic on any level?

Rather Fultz but Ainge allegedly got the guy he wanted. Draft for the Celtics went 100% as expected. By expected I mean Ainge, for the third draft in a row, used all his picks. I fully expect the two guys he drafted to never make the team.

Re: 2017 Draft Thread: 7th Heaven
I've never, ever been more disappointed in Ainge during a draft than I have been tonight.
I loved Smart as a prospect, I had Brown as my second choice last year and was happy with that.
Tonight he drafted Tobias Harris at 3 because he doesn't want to pick a player to develop? And with the second round picks he goes with a defensive stopper that can't shoot PG, a SG that it sounds like someone in Berkeley must be blowing Ainge to pick all their players. When we already have endless defensive stopper undersized players and plenty of RJ Hunter James Youngs... and need to be drafting project bigs. Or at the very least international players we can stash as we have 0 roster room since Ainge refuses to do the obvious and consolidate his assets. Instead being fine to pick all these first and second rounders and let them walk in free agency.
The only pick Ainge made that was actual value was at 37 with Semi Ojeleye.
I thought it years ago, but tonight once again jams it crystal clear in the entire NBA's face. Ainge is **** at drafting and the game of prospect drafting has waved bye bye to him ever since about 2007. If we had someone else handle drafting our team would have had another ring back in our contending stage and we'd probably have made some of the trades for these all-stars that are going for nothing instead of having Ainge fall in love with his own **** scouting profiles.
I'm not opposed to standing pat and building for the future, I am opposed to doing it by trading up to select a Kelly 0 type propsect. Or trading out of the first years later to draft... another low ceiling Kelly 0 type prospect. That's stupid.
