Boston's Youngsters vs. Yankees Youngsters

Young Aces -- Hughes vs Clay
Center field -- Melky vs Jacoby
2B -- Cano vs Pedroia
Bullpen (with starter's stuff) Joba vs Pap
Other -- Kennedy vs Lester

Who would you take? Both individually, and if you had to take em as a group?

Tough decision for me. After this postseason a lot of the Boston kids look awesome and have played a huge part. But you gotta remember what Cano, Melky, Hughes, and Joba (EK BUGS) did in the Yankees [short] Postseason

To rank them:

Buchholz
Hughes
Pedroia
Chamberlain
Cano
Cabrera
Ellsbury
Kennedy
Lester

A lot of good talent up to Ellsbury, but Kennedy and Lester are just backend starters. Papelbon will be 28 next year so I'm not including him.

I have no idea who I would take, but I love Pedroia so I guess it would have to be the Red Sox group.

Phil Hughes, Melky Cabrera, Robinson Cano, Joba Chamberlian, Ian Kennedy

Clay Bucholz, Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Johnathan Papelbon, Jon Lester

Papelbon?
If we include him then there's also Beckett, Dice K, Youk...

Hughes = or > Buchholz.
Pedroia = or > Cano.
Ellsbury > Cabrera. (BG's lapse of judgment notwithstanding)
Lester and Kennedy? Toss up.
Joba > Delcarmen or whomever.

Hughes = Buchholz
Cano > Pedroia
Ellsbury > Melky
Kennedy = or > Lester (I think Kennedy reaches his potential as a good #3)
Joba > whoever

Buchholz > Hughes
Cano > Pedroia
Ellsbury > Melky
Lester > Kennedy (but i don't like either)
Joba > Masterson (but i think both can be number 2 starters in the majors)

No, read the scouting report. Pedro Martinez II. But taller and more durable and with a better fastball.

He's not a pitching prospect. He's a pitcher.

I am not a fan of either team but how is Pedroia better than Cano?

I'd say they're about equal with the edge probably going to Cano if you absolutely have to say who is better. Cano a little better defender, Pedroia a marginally more productive hitter, though Cano has some untapped potential here I bet. Not in terms of power, but he has more room to improve his plate discipline. And who knows, maybe Pedroia knocks out 15 jacks or something. Such different players but I think so close in terms of value.

Do people think Cano will really have a breakout in terms of power? He doesn't have a swing conducive to hitting 30 HR like I think a lot of people expect or hope for. His 15-20 HR power is fantastic, though, so don't worry Yankee fans.

They were so close last year. Cano with a .292 EqA and Pedroia with a .293. That's fantastic production out of the 2B position.

I hope we get to see these sets of young players play on each team for the next decade.

Cano, Pedroia. Joba, Buchholz. Hughes, Masterson. Ellsbury, Melky. They're all gonna be so close.

Don't sleep on Melky.

My ranking in the previous post is useless.
