Better In Their Prime - Larkin or Jeter?

Post#1 » by Evermore » Thu Nov 5, 2009 7:14 pm

Forget about Larkin's history with injuries...base your answer purely on talent and impact on a game...

Who was better in their prime?

Barry Larkin or Derek Jeter

I would say Jeter had the single best season out of the two in 1999, but that really doesn't mean much as one season doesn't tell you much.

I would say on rate basis throughout their prime Larkin was better, but that doesn't really mean much as Jeter always played more.

So whatever that means to you.

I'm pretty much with bigboy on this one. I will say Larkin's 96 season was very close to Jeter's 99 year tho.

Purely on talent....Larkin by a hair, maybe.

I'm a Yankee hater so my opinion is jaded for sure. lol

Prime only, I'll go with Larkin by a whisker. I think that, when both are at their best, Larkin's a lot better with the glove and close enough with the bat to give him the edge.

Career, it's Jeter by a mile.

Larkin is 10x the fielder Jeter is. And his bat wasn't far off either. Larkin easy.

Nice to see Larkin get inducted

In his prime, I think he was slightly better than Jeter

Jeter was clutch though.

Jeter seems to play better when the pressure is on.

Ill take Jeter
