Austin Rivers wants to be #10 pick

Post#1 » by Copperhead » Wed Jun 27, 2012 9:46 pm

• Austin Rivers would love to play in New Orleans with Anthony Davis and wants to be the No. 10 pick.

"That would be amazing,'' Rivers said. "I had a great work out there. I love [coach] Monty Williams and [GM] Dell Demps, everyone there. It's a great city. I'm actually really good friends with Anthony. We've already created a little chemistry. It would be really neat to play there with a team on the rise. Eric Gordon is going to be an all-star in a couple of years. I'd be really excited if that happens.''

Could Rivers play point with EG10?

Like his father, he knows all the right things to say in front of the camera. I'm not a huge fan of his but if he's available at 10, I'd consider him. Not a freak athlete but he makes up for it with his motor and on court demeanour.

For the Hornets, if Rivers and Marshall are on the board which one do you select?

2poor you really think he's hit his peak of athletic abilities at 20 years old?

As of right now I like Marshall's ability to pass the ball and get others involved more than Rivers.

kind of, yeah. I mean purely physically speaking -- he's not an explosive leaper and he's not blazingly fast.

I agree, I like Marshall as a high IQ, pass-first PG. Rivers = hero ball

Neither Curry nor Rivers played a traditional point guard role at Duke right? Would Monty Williams be able to get Rivers to play more like a traditional point guard?

Duke was all about the 3-guard lineup, with Rivers handling the ball primarily towards the end of the game.

a better question would be, can Doc get his kid to play like a more traditional point guard?

Im fine with drafting Rivers at 10... i think a Gordon Rivers back court could be a more successful version of Ellis/curry..

I'd go with Marshall as well, Copper.

Can Rivers play PG? Well he can always come off the bench as the 3rd guard. Either way, he's going to get his minutes.

I think Rivers could become a first option for NOH. Eric Gordon is more comfortable as a #2 scorer (although I'll pick him taking the last shot). Run the ball through the big man and have the defense scramble to get back on the two shooters. It could definitely work.

If he wants to fulfill his potential then he will have to play SG. He might eventually develop into a good PG but will probably never be great.

I really think he can be one of the best SG in the league.
