How is this a good deal if you are giving up another 1st round pick if it falls between 4-19. Meaning the Pels HAVE to make the playoffs as at least a 6th seed in the tough West.

Hey guys I know Asik for about 10 years now and if I was asked which one the 30 teams in the league would be the best fit for him I'd say the Pels already. He and Davis will be a top frontcourt in the league, if not the best.

Keep in mind while he struggles catching the ball at times his offense is not as bad as most people ignorantly and lazily say, he averaged double figures his first year as a starter with a very low usage rate. Defensively he is a monster obviously, but not only around the rim. His help defense is excellent that he might well be #1 help defender in the NBA now.

Overall this is a great trade for the Pels if you sign him to a long contract which seems very possible to me at this point.

How does this work exactly? I didn't think New Orleans was far enough under the cap to take back that much salary. Did they have a Traded Player Exception?

Celtics fan here. Do any of you know if this trade is still going down? Are the Pelicans going to stretch Austin Rivers? Just wondering what all of you are hearing.

The trade is supposed to go down tomorrow according to NOLA sources. Stretching Austin was discussed earlier in the week but, according to these same sources, was dismissed.

We'll find out more details in 24 hours, I guess haha

Asik is an awesome addition.

It's going to be pretty hard for teams to score against this team with Davis/Asik anchoring the D.

Asik is going to be amazing on both sides of the court. Over the last 2 years he has installed a very good offensive game and he's worked on his ability to dunk as well as catch darts inside the paint. Really think Pelicans just jumped up another tier.

Opening night stats for Asik/Davis combined was 40 points, 34 rebounds, and 14 blocks. The pels front court is going to be amazing this year.

Pelicans are playoff bound in my opinion and a big reason why is the Asik trade.
