What would you guys give up for Brad Lidge?

Post#1 » by Baller 24 » Tue Apr 3, 2007 2:42 am

The guy most likely needs a different place to pitch, he can't go on like this, he blew his 1st game of the season, either the Astros make his huge contract a RP, and move Wheeler as there CP, or the Astros give him up.

So give some offers?

What area are you looking to improve in offense, pitching, starters or relivers.

Don't give away too much talent Lidge has been just as inconsistent as Jose Valervde. Drew could have been a #1 pick if not for having Scott Boris as his agent.

That said if Houston throws some extras into the pot it would be something to talk about. We could move Justin Upton back to his natural postion at SS.

Yeah, he keeps blowing saves, and on the 1st game of the season, Oswalt worked so hard, and then he comes in, gets 2 outs, and then chokes into extra innings, and then the rest just folds away.

What's Lidge's contract like? Maybe a trade with the Mets? He might be better as a setup man to Billy Wagner than a CP. But then again, not sure how he'll handle playing in NY which comes with it's own set of pressures.

OH man, the Mets would have two former Astros, and when Billy was an Astro, Lidge was actaully the set up man for Wagner, and boy was that a big combo!

Yeah as much as I like WMP I'd give him up for Lidge. I honestly don't see how Pena makes it through this whole season with the Sox.

Lidge's only problem is homers. It's just a recent thing and I wouldn't expect it to continue. He still strikes out like 12 guys per nine innings.

The only thing keeping me from making that deal would be the sinking feeling I have that Pena is going to be a 40 HR guy in like 2 years. After all he is only 25.

Yeah I'm quite confident once Pena leaves the Sox he becomes one of the better homerun hitters in baseball.

I haven't looked at any of the offers yet but whatever they were I say pull the trigger. At this point I would take a few pair of tube socks and a 20 ounce bottle of Powerade.

As I said, the Mets seem like a good option. Ambi-Burgos and a dozen bagels do?

Ill take it, even if it means the Mets would have the most solid bull pen in the league, anything to help him change his senerio.

Make them the bagels with the raisins in them and add a small tub of strawberry cream cheese. I hate to say it because you don't do business like this in the real world but if the raisins get thrown in, I think we clearly get the better end of this deal.

Nearly gave me a heart attack.

Jose Valverde, Dustin Nippert, Cyle Hankerd for Lidge?

We need a lockdown closer, you need pitching depth. I'll even throw in Hankerd, who had a monster year last year in the minors.

Well, then if he is on the Sox, he'll do nothing, you say, so it's probably good to move him for something, plus, Lidge would be a great set-up man for Papelbon.
