i have saw the braves are the favorites to sign a couple top international players too, including SS Kevin Maitan who has been compared to Miguel Cabrera and C Abrahan Gutierrez.

the farm system is already loaded, if we manage to sign those two and maybe more INT players (Braves rumored to "blitz" the market this summer" ) and add in the 3rd pick this draft and the 1-3 pick next year it will be insane.

Swanson and Albies have both been promoted today.

Great news. Even though Albies is at the higher level, I think Swanson makes it to Atlanta first. Albies is just so young, and Swanson seems so mature - he seems mentally ready to take on the major leagues. And Atlanta needs his pop. I want to see one of them (preferably Swanson) promoted to Atl by July.

19 years old and in AAA, Albies just surpassed Rio Ruiz (whose been spectacular, himself) as the youngest player in Gwinnett. I'm getting more and more excited about the future.

And on the pitching side, Lucas Simms (who turns 22 next week) is showing that he's back on track to being a TOR prospect. In 28.2 innings split between AA and AAA, he's got 42 SO's. He's been Mr. Bad Luck with an 0-3 record despite a 2.03 ERA. He does need to lower the walk rate before getting a promotion to the bigs.

Here's a VERY optimistic article on Brave's 18 year old Colby Allard. http://www.baseballhq.com/content/minors-eyes-have-it%E2%80%94kolby-allard-chris-paddack

Very exciting to get Maitan - the #1 international prospect.

Albies got sent back to AA to start working and developing chemistry with Swanson.

Albies went 1 for 3 yesterday - lowering his average to under .400 - so i'd say the demotion has helped him.

Speaking of SS's, it's gotta be fun to watch Atl's GCL team - partly because of SS Derian Cruz - 17 years old and putting up a line of .362/.389/.507. He's been described as a little bigger version of Ozzie Albies... wow. Speedster LFer Randy Ventura (19) leads off hitting .344. Anthony Concepcion (21) plays some 1B and some corner OF - hitting .351/.420/.596. Christian Pache (17) plays CF and is hitting .281 with 3 triples. 1st round pick Ian Anderson started out well. These are all exciting legit prospects - though I'm probably rating Concepcion and Ventura ahead of what the scouts rate them. Cruz seems to be the one who could be a big-time star - and should be shooting up in all the prospect rankings - while Pache could easily be the Braves CFer of the future.

Kolby Allard with another shutout over 6 innings yesterday. His play with Danville has been incredible, and his back injury looks to be fully behind him. What a steal he's looking like already.

He's a phenom. The Braves are loaded with top end left-handed pitching potential.

I was checking out the AA team looking at players other than Swanson and Albies, and the Braves actually do have 2 solid OF prospects in Dustin Peterson and Connor Lein - both 22 years old - like Swanson. Peterson is a natural hitter getting better at being selective. He's OPS'd .827 in June and .813 so far in July - getting his season OPS to .770. Lein is now more than a guy who just looks the part of a pro athlete - and he definitely passes the look test. He's an excellent RFer who's played some CF. His OPS is at .729, and he's shown he can do better than that. Peterson's got the better bat, but don't look past Lein, because he's a big athletic guy who fields better and might surprise with the stick.

Great to see those high picks all doing well. Wentz looks really good. It was probably worth it to pick Anderson over one of the OFers - just so the Braves could afford to get the other guys.

Wentz put up numbers in HS that are legitimately better than "video game numbers." Still can't believe he fell to 40, with or without the pay demand.
