Braves players due free agency this winter,

Brian McCann
Tim Hudson
Paul Maholm
Luis Ayala
Scott Downs
Kameron Loe
Eric O'Flaherty

I believe EOF will be resigned. Unfortunately I think McCann signs with an AL team to DH/Catch, I'd like to see him stay in ATL, but with how much he could make, Gattis production this year and prospect Christian Bethancourt waiting in the wings. Laird still has 1 yr left on his deal and I see him backing up Gattis until Bethancourt is called up. With the McCann money lock up Heyward, Freeman and Simmons.
I'd also like to see Tim Hudson re-signed to a 1 yr deal. Maholm definitely won't be back and this team needs a vet starter. I'd also like to see them add a mid level starter, Beachy may not return until close to the all star break. Need a vet or 2 to go with Minor, Medlen and Teheran. IE sign Arroyo, Lincecum, U Jimenez, or someone like that to a 1yr deal.

O'Flaherity is a must sign imo, he probably won't be as expensive as he should've been with the Tommy John Surgery. Bring back Huddy, I'm sure he'll give us a discount, and I'd like to see Ayala back. Unless Mccan gives us a discount at around $8 mil a year don't bring him back. We're pretty set at the catcher position for right now and in the future, there's no need to use up extra funds on a position we don't need, especially with those guys you mentioned needing to be re-signed . Agreed that we need to get a vet Pitcher for the playoffs, I never knew how huge experience and veteran know how was in the playoffs until I saw Teheran's implosion.

Texas has been pursuing Brian McCann most of the season, so I expect it to continue this offseason, and for them to be the favorites to sign him.

GM Frank Wren is open to re-signing Hudson,

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/atlanta_braves/

I would really like to see this, Beachy won't be back until around the all star break. We need a vet in the rotation with Minor, Medlen and Teheran. I would also like to see a vet pitcher added to the rotation on a 1 yr deal, IE Ubaldo Jimenez. I'm not ready for Alex Wood as the 5th starter at the moment. We already have a young rotation, and I would like to see another vet in there, someone with experience.

I'm good with just signing Huddy and going with the youngsters as the rest of the rotation. Last I heard, Beachy should be ready for spring training. Think between Beachy, Minor, Teheran, Medlen, and Wood, we are set on pitching and I wouldn't bother signing a crappy free agent like Ubaldo Jimenez. Need that money to sign some of our arbitration eligible players since we have a ton of those.

I would be surprised if EOF is brought back, think even with the TJ surgery, some team is going to offer him a multi-year deal that the Braves won't be willing to match. McCann is going to get stupid money this off-season, Braves can't match since he'll be 30 next season and it'll be a terrible contract in 2-3 years in the NL. Plus between Gattis and Betancourt they are fine for the future at Catcher.

Bye bye Maholm, Ayala, Downs, and Loe.

Not a chance in hell that we match a $100 million offer. If this does happen then it's just time to thank Mccan for everything he's done for us and go our separate ways

I concur.

I see no reason to pay him $100 million anyway.

In this article it mentions, the Braves possibly being in on David Price if Tampa does let him go. What do you guys think of that? I'd be open to it so long that it doesn't cost us Teheran. I'd send them Medlen, Wood and some prospects.
Too bad we also couldn't get Ben Zobrist from them too. I'd take him at 2b over Uggla.

Indeed. And definitely not for Teheran, I think Julio has a bright future as a Cy Young winner in a few years.

Omar Infante at 2b, if Uggla is moved? Would you? Tigers didn't make an offer to him, he won't be expensive. He hit a career best .318 with the Tigers in 2013. I would.

YES! Omar is also a fan favorite and might be open to returning to the team he made an all-star appearance with.

Boston appears to be pursing Tim Hudson.

I expect more teams to pursue him as well but we seem to still be interested in retaining him.

Tim Hudson reportedly to sign with the Giants. Rumored deal is 2 yr/$23 million.

Although I don't blame him, good contract for a player his age. Hard to pass up.
However,I really would have liked to have him back. We all know the player, club house guy, man he is, would have been good to have a vet in the rotation with these good kids we have.

Thanks Tim! Best of luck to you! (Except vs the Braves of course)

I am not sad to see Hudson go. We need to re-sign Eric O'Flare, get Infante, then see if we can move Uggla to a AL team.

We could not have paid Tim that kind of money with all the other things we needed to address. No hard feelings here. Good luck Tim!

Return to Atlanta Braves
