4 years $42 million. Great deal for us IMO

I'm very pleased with how we have signed our youth to longterm contracts.

I'm a very happy Braves fan right now.

I love it. Wren has been busy with all the re-signings the past few days and it's good to see him get extended too. Fredi's also a solid manager who's earned a new contract, it's tough for a manager working under the cloud of a one year contract.

Rumors are Braves have signed Simmons to a 7 yr deal, no link or details yet.

I'm really happy with this offseason.

Glad that we are able to keep our core intact despite the albatross contract to B.J. (and to a lesser extent, Uggla).

Good to see the commitment to our youth. This team is planning on keeping the young core in tact for the next several years. Very happy with this move and the other signings.

Great Move!!! We just signed arguably the best defensive player in the game to a deal worth a little over $8 mil per year on average. That new Cobb County stadium (which will push the payroll up) is already paying for itself.

I'm very excited about the future of our teams.

We now have many of our youth locked up. I'm ready for Spring Training.

We still need a 2nd baseman, leadoff man, setup guy to replace O'Flare, can't trust Ventors, can't trust BJ and have no Ace.

All that re-signing and we are still a long ways away from being a serious contender.

You indeed live up to your reputation as a guy who hates everything.

Considering we were a team that had the best record in MLB for most of lasts season, locking up the young guns at reasonable prices has to be considered a win. If not for a rough week at season's end, we end up with the #1 seed, draw the Pirates and most likely make it all the way to the NLCS.

Developing, Heyward, Freeman, Simmons, Teheran and Kimbrel is the way to go, especially with the highly regarded prospects in the farm system.

Jamaaliver didn't insult you. They simply stated that you are being negative and agreed with the rest of us, that it is a great idea to lock up our young core.

So saying I hate everything and everyone is not an insult? I am not being negative. We have a lot of obvious holes on this team and did not address those. I can see Washington and Philly being better than us because of those holes

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Superiorblogman, don't cry, man. You are a cynic. Nothing wrong with that. So embrace it. Nothing any of our teams do, short of a title, will impress you. You're THAT guy. And that's okay. Stand proud.

PS I've seen some of the mean comments posters said about you over the years. Mine hardly stands as an insult. Just an honest observation that you are terribly difficult to impress.

That's the way the world works a bunch of people run there mouths with no facts, even so called authorities. It even happens in the legal system people get convicted with no facts because allowing another human being to judge another or reside over another is and will always be a ignorant idea.

I go on record as saying I think Heyward is our leadoff guy. And Uggla rebounds from the worse year of his career.

We'll at least be competitive. I read somewhere that the last three years under Freddy, we have the 2nd most wins of all MLB teams. We'll at least be solid.
