Nearly no hit? The braves must be proud.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Wood looks bad. Gave up 2 HRs, and gave up a double to a pitcher who didn't have a hit since 2003.

Offense does just enough. Bullpen continues its superior play. Braves win 4-3.

Teheran has not been good this season. ERA near 5.00.

Sad to see Kelly go. Mets got them both on the cheap, 2 low-mid level prospects.

Would any of you look into trading Teheran? I'm 50/50 on it, he's had a really bad season thus far. On pace to allow 30 HRs, ERA just below 5.00. If we're in a full on rebuild(moves by Hart show this, traded both Uptons,Heyward,Gattis and Kimbrel), you can likely get a very good return for him. Braves have lots of young arms, Miller and Wood with the most MLB experience of the young pitchers, Perez, Wisler and Folty have all had MLB service this season and have looked good/shown potential at times.
And let's not forget Lucas Sims, Max Fried, Manny Ban, Touki Toussaint and Tyrell Jenkins in the wings.Or am I overreacting here, and should hope/think Teheran can regain his 2013-2014 form under McDowell next season and forward? For the record I have no doubt in Roger's abilities.

I'd listen to offers and move him if some team offers a lot for him (which I think someone might due to his young age and the fact that he's under team control for the next 5 years). Teheran's has been so frustrating this year, at this point I wouldn't even let him start road games tbh.

i have to say, i really dont like that last trade we did. trading Peraza and Wood for a 30 year old who has never played in the majors? welp at least we have a power bat now.

A really dumb trade! I no longer like Hart. He trades everybody away and extends Fredi. :nonono: :banghead:

I wonder what position he will play, on baseball reference he is listed as a 2nd/1st baseman. I guess i understand trading Jose and Wood, we have several good young infield players and a glut of young pitching, im still iffy but optimistic.

that about sums me up as well. I do like that we are willing to move some of this young pitching in pursuit of players we really like. Clearly, Hart REALLY likes Oliveras...a lot.

This trade basically comes down to whether this guy is as good as we think he is.

But we now have a pretty solid infield core of FF, Jace, Simmons and Olivares. Not a bad place to begin building a lineup.

We also have two picks in the top 35 in the next draft and enough money to pursue a top Free Agent in the Fall.

we are poised to build aggressively and be really good in 2017.

I absolutely love the direction Hart has us going in.

We likely get a new Manager in 2017. No need in trying to coax in a new coach knowing next summer could be equally bad.

in other news we are down to the 8th worst record in the league, just about 3 games from the 3rd worst. that draft pick is looking good

One more about the Olivera trade: I really don't like having to hold my breath hoping for his elbow to not give out. He took blood thinners last year and that took away some of his power, and there have been discussions about him possibly having Tommy John surgery. Way too big of a risk, but what's done is done.

The Cubs also aggressively shopped shortstop Starlin Castro, but they found few takers. Javier Baez was one of the players discussed as part of a Carrasco package. Meanwhile, the Braves expressed interest in Jorge Soler while discussing Julio Teheran and other young pitchers. Overall, it’s clear that high quality, club controlled pitching is a top priority for Chicago.

Would you trade Teheran for Soler? I'd think about it. Hart is building to compete in 2017 and forward, possible lineup for 2017 if this trade happened, and rotation.

CF Mallex Smith
RF Markakis
3b Olivera
1b Freeman
SS Simmons
2b Jace
LF Soler
C Bethancourt

Once Braxton is ready for MLB(2017? 2018?), Soler can move to RF, Braxton in LF.

Miller
Perez
Manny Ban
Wisler
Folty

Here's what I'd do if I did this trade,Teheran and pitching prospect Mauricio Cabrera for Soler, LHP prospect Carson Sands and relief pitcher James Russell.
