i suppose we plan on getting the bats in the international pool.

if we can get several of them like we are supposed to get i guess taking 20 pitchers in the draft is ok.

Was disappointed that we passed on Puk at 3, but I trust or scouts. Anderson will also cost half as much as that.

Wentz and Muller were both top 25 talents that fell. Wentz fell because teams were afraid of the money he wanted that we'll be able to supply.

Wentz's stats this past year winning the Kansas 6A state title:
51.1 IP, 0.00 ERA, 7 Hits, 12 Walks, 104 Ks. 0.38 WHIP. His first four starts were no hitters, and a runner got to third base on him twice.

Also a .395 average with 22 RBI and 25 runs in 75 AB's.

These are video game like numbers when you adjust all the sliders to make the game super easy.

Harrington has struck out 5 of the first 6 batters he has faced. Kid has a nasty slider.

So drafting Anderson and picking up the late 2nd rounder from Baltimore for taking on Matusz gave the Braves the extra draft money to likely be able to afford signing Wentz and Muller.

The announcers said Harrington was 9-0 with a 1.04 ERA at home for Louisville this season. The kid looks like a middle of the rotation type starter, a solidly built 6'2" 230 frame on this kid, looks very country strong.

Harrington ran into some trouble in the 5th, UCSB had 2 on with 1 out. Harrington got out of the jam by striking out 2 in a row, slider is his out pitch. He now has 9 Ks thru 5 IP.

Louisville closer(who was a 1st rd pick a few days ago) spoils a dominant start from Harrington and Louisville, with 2 outs away from forcing game 3, he allows a walk off grand slam to UCSB. Louisville eliminated, UCSB is going to their 1st appearance in Omaha.

I love how picking Ian Anderson allowed the Braves to go over-slot for picks 2 through 6, but if Chris Ray becomes an all-star CFer, was it worth passing him up? In any event, the Braves have a tremendous treasure trove of young arms - and the catcher - Cumberland - can really hit - we just don't know if he'll make it as a catcher.

The scouts compare Anderson to Wainwright. I will take that all day long!

So far, gotta say the Braves must be happy with their draft decision to not pick Corey Ray or Kyle Lewis and go for Ian Anderson to allow them to get a bunch of high slot 18 year old pitchers in the following rounds. Ray and Lewis are 21. Ray's OPS is under .600 playing in high A Florida State League. Maybe they rushed him, but when you draft a 21 year old that high, you gotta push him. Lewis is hitting real well - an OPS over .900, but he's in a lower league. Meanwhile, Anderson and the other teenage pitchers the Braves picked are doing outstanding in the GCL. Wentz already got promoted - maybe a bit too soon. The Braves must have more talented teenage prospects than any other organization. The future is very bright. It's just a matter of when that future is.
